She is so super determined to wear it. I saw her with yesterday's liner on - she was at her cousin's house - and she wanted to lie and say that she hadn't put any on. I didn't give her the chance and since she is going to wear it, I think I'll choose another battle and show her what to do.
I'm thinking that brown eyeliner, pink lip pencil and a clear gloss with a wand will feel grownup without looking too hoochie. No mascara, foundation or blusher needed yet. I'll help her with her eyebrows and how to remove her makeup at night.
What do you guys think?
I still think 12 is too young but I also make all kids call me ma'am and not listen to hip hop on Sundays. I'm a little old fashioned is all.
Then maybe she'll trust me with her hair and get rid of the fan and swoop. Lawd.:nono:

How cute! I agree that some lipgloss wouldn't bee too much for her to wear at 12. I'm a little iffy on the eyeliner, but maybe brown wouldn't make her look too "grown." I think black would be too much for a 12 year old though.

I think that lipliner and eyeliner is too much for a 12 year old.
I would give her some lip gloss at the most.

I think lipgloss and nail polish should be the only thing a 12 y/o should wear. Eyeliner is waaay too much.

I'm 21, and when I was 12 I'm not sure if I wanted to wear makeup but I did want my eyebrows done. I had thick thick thick eyebrows, almost uni-brow. Kids these days grow up fast, their more sophisticated, and meaner, and sometimes I wished my mother would of let me shave my legs or fix my eyebrows when I was in the 6th-8th grade because I had gym and that's embarrassing to wear shorts and have super super hairy legs.
I wouldn't say Bonnie Bell Lip Smackers I think she's too old for that, she' almost a teen. I would say get her a nice tinted lip gloss. Something she can see change in, like a pink or a tan, not a red or anything, unless she can pull it off without looking made up. and I use to wear eyeliner all the time, I started highschool at 14 right? I was definitely wearing eyeliner before then, that's fine. She's at that age to me. Brown is less noticeable. I was wearing BLACK LMAO. brown eye liner, pink lip gloss. That sounds perfect. lol
What grade is she in? if she's in the 7th grade, maybe eyeliner at 9th grade.
Eyeliner in any color, unh unh....Bonne Bell, Cover Girl Lipslicks, sure!

Now that I think of it Bonnie Bell Lip Smackers is for like kids 8 to 10, little little girls that wanna be princesses and dress up, you get them the Bonnie Bell, I was wearing that in Elementary and my favorite was this purple one that smelled like grape. And then I got bored.
I think Bonnie Bell is equivalent to Lisa Frank.

A pretty gloss and maybe the clear mascara for grooming. Concentrate on grooming. I do not like the eyeliner idea on a 12 year old. Mom, hang in there. I know you have to choose your battles but don't be too easy.

I think some natural looking lip gloss and CLEAR mascara is good enough. Eyeliner in my opinion is a little too grown for a 12 yr old

I would encourage her to try some color. I was looking at a pretty purple sparkly liner pencil and thinking that it would be perfect for younger girls. I think that black looks more grown up than bright. My biggest concern would be teaching her good skincare and grooming. I would also focus more on application than on what she is wearing. A light coat of mascara and liner wouldn't look too old. Three coats of mascara and that liner smudged into a smokey eye would be too much for 12.
The most she could do is wear some lip gloss and polish her nails all she wanted.
Brow grooming will really clean up the eye area and make her look prettier. (I am sure she is a beautiful girl already.)

Yeah I only got to get MAC when I could afford it myself....like...now lol. BUT I was suggesting MAC because Bonne Bell she's gonna feel like a little girl. I would prolly get bonne bell now that I think of it because when u first get makeup, you apply the lipgloss all day. That lil tube of MAC is gonna be out in a few days lol. I'd prolly get soem Bonne Bell or the kidn the sell at the beauty store. I let my niece wear Victoria Secret gloss

no MAC please. Just something simple. Some clear lip gloss and clear finger nail polish. Nothing more than that. Shes only 12. And after that concentrate on nice skin care.

Get CVS lip gloss, not bonnie bell PLEASE she's gonna feel like she's 10. Honestly I remember being 12 turning 13, a tinted lip gloss will be fine. And I don't think nail polish is anything special. I was babysitting a 4 year old who had her nails painted pink, soo....I think we sometimes here 12 and think ooohh how young and we tend to forget that 12 isn't really that young. Its 4 years from driving and oh my how fast those four years will go. Its 2 years from highschool.
And mascara??? mascara over eyeliner? I wore black eyeliner in 8th grade, I couldn't remember earlier, but I distinctively remember being in my last class and putting on my friends liquid eye liner and getting it in my eye. I mean I was wearing contacts in the 6th grade, color, BUUTT I got clear when I realized how foolish I looked, BUT I am BLIND AS A BAT, I needed them lol lol. and I remember getting the liquid eyeliner in my eye and freaking out because I had on contacts and I had no contact solution.
I think I was 13, so maybe eyeliner when she's 13. I mean I do think you should be upfront with her about grooming, start them early. When I was in highschool my 7 year old cousin was obsessed with lotion, and I guarantee you when she's grown she'll never have ashy elbows.
