View Full Version : Suggestions for darkened pimples
This may be an issue unique to me but here goes: Growing up, I was told never to mess with a mole or you would bleed to death. As a result, any time I noticed a dark bump, I left it alone. Well, about 2 years ago, I was messing with a mole on my neck and discovered it was a black head. It had been on my neck for at least 10 years. Anyway, I have noticed that the same thing happens to the pimples on my face. If I don't burst the pimple while it is clear, it starts to look like a mole. Are there any good products to dry up old black heads and moles. If I mess with them, they leave scars so I would rather they just dry up.
I recently bought a product called Grandpa's sulfur soap. I am hoping it will work. If that didn't, I was thinking about ProActiv. Would ProActiv work for my issue?

Hey Bett1e~
You can try washing your face with Tone soap (original version)You can get that anywhere and everywhere, grocery stores, CVS, etc. My dermatologist recommended me to use it, I would never have that, I remember just using it as a bath soap. But I guess it makes sense, the cocoa ingredient will even out your skintone.
Thanks mirror/mirror but the darkened pimples are raised. Tone soap will not work for the pimples will it. I, however, will try the soap to even out the skin tone. Thanks.
I was using black soap but I think it was a little too much for my skin.

Oh.......I din't know the pimples were raised. It probably wouldn't make the pimle go away. It'll probably only fade the dark spot.

I used Proactive, and it had temporarily worked for me. it had cleared my pimples, but left ugly black blemishes. My face had gotten so dependent on it, that when i ran out, my face broke out even worse.I started using Mary Kay formula three. It has helped get rid of the blemishes, but now my face is getting too dry.

If you skin is supersensitive then I do not recommend proactive. See your dermatologist and ask him or her about Retin A micro or Azalex creme which will take care of the dark spots.
Thanks for the suggestion. I do have sensitive skin and have decided on a sulfur soap in hte mornig, a cocoa butter soap at night, and a paste of baking soda and castor oil (this is a homeopathic remedy for moles). We shall see.

If you do not mind me saying so, be careful with the products you are using. If you have sensitive skin do not use the sulfur everynight. It can be irritating for some people. If your skin is oily cocoa butter is the wrong thing to use. The spots, according to my dermatologist will fade without the aid of any products but it takes forever. If you have health insurance, send me a pm and I can refer you to a number of dermatologists. I have been through a lot of them. Right now my skin is almost in perfect condition.

Try Glycolic acid. It gets rid of blackheads-do a search here. Also sunscreen is a key to stopping the di-pigmentation and spots. My dermatologist recommends SPF 30 UVA/UVB it has helped tremendously.
Thanks, I had stopped using the sunscreen but will resume its use. Stopping the MSM and using the baking soda/castor oil paste has really started to clear my skin up.

Where did you get the sulfur soap?
It's called Granpa's soap or something like that. I bought it at my local Yuppie herb store. I am sure there are sulfer soaps on line though.

What does the castor oil do? I've never heard of using castor oil for the skin?

A homeopathetic remedy for moles. You mix baking soda with castor oil and put it on the area causing you concern. Basically, it acts as a a form of microdermabrasion.

have u tried getting professional facials? They work wonders for me. My facialist literally goes thru every enlarged pore and extracts all the gunk out of them. My black heads are now a thing of the past.
