Got over the sinus infection, but it has left me with a bit of a cough and drainage in my nose now. Yum! I really can't deal with going back to the doc and all that nonsense, so I was thinking of something OTC/natural. But then, I heard that most drugs don't even work for a cough or common cold...is that true?
What can I do to naturally get rid of this? (I've been eating tangerines like crazy btw)

The OTC meds out there only treat the symptoms not the actual common cold......I usually recommend tylenol cold and flu (get the double box with day/night) it works wonders....and you will get a good night sleep too.......

put a cup of honey and 2 tbsp of dry thyme in a pot. heat until it just begins to bubble, turn off the heat and let it cool, take this by the teaspoon as many times a day as necessary---I use this for myself and my kids and it is great. stops the cough and eases the drainage too.

Add some chopped garlic to that. Usually, I blend it all together and keep it in fridge. take a couple of tables spoons when you have a cough or feel a cold coming on. Or just add to your daily regemin to boost immune system. Add your favorite healthy natural juice to disguise taste. I usually use welches grape juice. I usually take it every night. I find when i can't stop coughing it instantly stops my cough. Keeps vampires aways too :lachen: j/k

Good one, fresh chopped garlic about two cloves{not the whole head..cloves!} some honey, a cup of hot water {optional: a shot of rum or whiskey if you want}, sip it while wrapped in a comforter or throw, a good movie, relax. A box of tissues will be needed because the phlegm will start to come out.

Also cut out dairy. Nothing fills your body with mucus like dairy. And try the Neti Pot nasal irrigation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neti_pot#Jala_neti). Drink lot of fluid...and if you aren't afraid of a little booze, what never fails to cure my cold (especially if I follow it with wrapping myself so warmly that I literally sweat in the night) is a little brandy, honey, hot water and lemon juice. Makes you sleep soundly too. (Does that count as a "natural" remedy?)

Take lots of Vitamin C. Emergen-C satchets that you mix with water provide 1000 mg of C. Keep hands clean. Wear gloves if riding public transportation so you're not holding rails that other germ-infested hands have deposited the virus on. Drink lots of fluids.

You can purchase online. I buy mine at the vitamin shoppe.
Source Naturals Wellness formula. 3 pills every 3 hours. It works for colds, viruses and cough.
For best results begin taking at onset of illness or first signs of imbalance. I challenge anyone to tell me this does NOT work. It's that serious. Retail price $10.

I drink gallons of ginger tea. Just wash the root and chop it up, don't even have to peel it. Boil it and add brown sugar for taste. I also drink tons of liquid to flush out all the germs. Works for me. Haven't been sick at all this year knock on wood.

To stop night time coughing put Vicks Vaporub generously on the bottom of the feet at bedtime, then cover with socks. Even persistent, heavy, deep coughing will stop in about 5 minutes and stay stopped for many, many hours of relief. Works 100% of the time and is more effective in children than even very strong prescription cough medicines. In addition it is extremely soothing and comforting and they will sleep soundly.

Get well soon
