Anybody interested in a one-week challenge?
I have been reading about the macrobiotics and a grain-based diet for years. I came across the Rice Diet a few years ago and have been reading about it ever since then. Duke has a program called the Rice House for people with significant health problems can go as in-patients to follow the program, but moderately healthy people can do it at home.
I am going to give it a shot. It is strict. There are two versions of the diet, Dr. Kempner’s original rice diet and the new one that is currently followed at Duke that has one day of milk day. I think I am going to do the original diet at first and make sure to take a food-based multivitamin and a calcium tablet.
The current one: http://books.google.com/books?id=hI5ddL0FH2UC&printsec=frontcover&dq=Rice+Diet&ei=zhssSeytLJDCMv2ZsIYM#PPA23,M1
The original one (check the phases at the top):
