The Style Network has a new reality series called Ruby (http://www.mystyle.com/mystyle/shows/ruby/), about a nearly 500 pound woman's journey to reclaim her health and her life.
I find this fascinating. On the one hand, I watch it to scare me straight -- because I know that if I keep up the way I've been going lately, that is exactly where I'll end up. On the other hand, I'm not quite as sympathetic as I expected to be because I recognized so much of myself in her . . . and her (I hate to say it) excuses/rationalizations/reasons why she was so overweight. It's like you KNOW what the problem is . . . you even KNOW how to fight the problem. It's just a matter of finding the will and the heart to do so when you're up against such a huge obstacle (NO PUN INTENDED).
Anyone else watching?
BTW, please do not come in here saying anything unproductive or mean about Ruby or fat folks in general. This is intended to be a positive or, at least, thought provoking discussion (and not a dreaded "weight" thread). If you don't have anything helpful to say, then keep it moving.
