I have talked to alot of people about what they do for great skin. And the thing I found that is most common among those people is doing next to NOTHING to their skin. This doesnt seem right when their are a million products pushed on us to help us have beautiful glowing skin. So what should you believe??? :ohwell:
So I tried it removing every unnatural product from my sight. I wash with organic coconut oil (removes dirt and makeup), wipe with warm to hot water until clean and tight, moisturize with shea butter, lightly exfoliate every other day, and take my bodybalance every day. And the difference was amazing:grin:. Dark marks are clearing up nicely and not one break out in 4 weeks (except when Ive had a stressful day, I get stress bumps but they go away with a few days, only had one day like that so I am doing great:look:).
I had very oily skin so dont be afraid.:yep:
And word to the wise, your oily skin may just be you wiping away the oil thats supposed to be there (skin needs it to remain acidic) and your skin producing even more to compensate for what youre messing up. So stop wiping so much. Pat lightly with tissue paper and keep it moving. JUST A THOUGHT!
It you have and are trying everything take advice from my bestfriend, CHILL OUT! Stop doing so much to your skin. And sometimes do nothing at all.
Give it a try! What do you have to lose? :drunk:

Very true. I don't do much to my skin. My monthly regimen is under 10.00 a month, and my folks are always complimenting me about how smooth, clear and even my face is. When I tell them what I do, they usually don't believe me.

I completely agree. I oil wash every other day and mask once a week.

See...I knew it was the truth. All that other stuff is for the birds. Sure diet and exercise may help but I've seen some of the unhealthiness people have great skin, hair, and nails. And its because they are lazy about it. They dont do anything and everything else just falls in line.

For years I just washed my face with African black soap and moisturized with whatever lotion I had at the moment. I just added benodite clay to my regime and the occasional oil wash.
But in all honesty I think it has more to do with genetics. My mom has extra clear skin as well as most females in my family.

I would agree. As long as you don't have any serious acne issues, keeping it simple should work.

Genetics does play a role however my mom and dad and oldest sister NEVER have skin issues. Me and my mmiddle sis have them all the time. One minute, the next pimple city. So I judt adopted not doing anything and it works just like it works for them.

yea actually just washing your face with normal face wash twice daily and keeping your skin clean will do you don't need many skin creams and makeups.

Over the summer I started washing my face with my washcloth EVERY night which lead to over exfoliation and breakouts. During this time I also used the mint julep mud mask. My skin revolted and I stopped using the washcloth-went bck to cleansing 2x a day with my hands and liquid cleanser. I laid off the masks and now use a scrub no more than 2-3x a week. I cleanse, moisturize daily and exfoliate as needed. My skin majorly cleared up in a week.
I am gonna stick to simplicity and follow with what works for me.

I've been suffering from breakouts for a while now, some of which I find is hormonal. As for the facial care aspect I've tried a lot of things with varied success. I'm convinced my best bet at getting my skin where I want it to be is 1) address the hormonal issue 2) try to facial care to minimal steps. Three step programs are not the business because somewhere in those 3 bottles is an irritant. I'm lucky to find a cleanser that does not irritate, much less a toner and moisturizer. That's why I went the natural route found that Black Soap was ineffective for my skin, but shea butter is a keeper although I have oily skin. Oil washes did nothing except bring a little balance, jojoba oil turned out not to be very moisturizing at all. I guess my point is ITA keeping it simple is a must BUT it's a long journey sometimes to figure out just what simple means for your particular skin type/concerns.

I dunno if this is completely true. It could just be a case of people not using much on their skin b/c it's so good that they don't have to. Correlation does not equal causation and all that.
I do agree that overdoing it is detrimental, but simple is relative and some people due to their genetics really can't get away with just doing the bare minimum.

Very true ladies. Simple is relative but simple shouldnt include you using several creams, spot treatments and cleanser each day. Cleanse, exfoliate or tone, and moisturize. Use what products work for you. Never be a product junkie on your skin. Your skin can never adjust. Your hair is a different story.
