I am going to scream. Now as a person with a Bachelor's degree in nutrition, I know that low-carbing/no carbing is not healthy. But more power to the people who are doing it. I'm not going to cut them down about it, but it IS insane how many companies have come out with low carb products. But they're all about the $$$ and I guess they're trying to cash in. But it's really getting on my nerves now http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

There is a low-carb ice cream called "Creme de Carb." I am so sick of this low carb crap! http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/nono.gif I know what u guys are thinking: "Anky, didn't u cut out carbs." actually no, i ate everything under the sun with the exception of carrots, corn and potatoes. oooh thinking about low carb foods makes me angryyy http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif I hate how these companies are getting rich of that nasty crap.

I thought the beer was overkill also! Still, I do like having sensible low carb options available. Quizzno's has a yummy low carb pita bread you can substitute in place of their bread rolls. I recommend it whether you're low carbing or not. Now, Low carb yogurt? beer? Give me a break...

What really put it over the top for me is that Braum's (an ice cream chain mostly in the south I think) has come out with a Carb Watcher's ice cream. Dagnabbit, if you are famous for your ice cream--don't alter it just to fit in http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, it's all about the money. That's all these companies care about. They're jumping on the "low-carb bandwagon." I must admit, some of those low-carb ice cream bars taste good! http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

they basically just follow the trends and dont care about nutrition. this is why we diet in the first place- because we dont have basic healthy eating patterns to start with.

I know http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/nono.gif I live for carbs and Id be a zoombie if I cut carbs out of my diet. I read a study somewhere on the internet that slim people eat the most carbs...forgot what the reasoning behind it was. Carbs and fat provide energy right? So why would people cut them out to the extremes?

Oh yeah you are a teacher right? What made you want to go into teaching if you majored in nutrition?

Well, I thought I wanted to be a dietitian when I chose nutrition as a major, but I decided late in college that I didn't want to spend additional time in school to earn an RD and then be paid the measley bucks that dietitians/nutritionists make. I would've changed my major to education, but I was too far along in my college career to make such a drastic change. So I got my teacher's certification after college graduation.

yeah the pay does suck. I was thinking about going into nutrition. But i dunno if i want to do that or Nursing. I would prolly have more options with the nursing major though. Because with either of the majors I wanna do grad studies in Public Health. Thanx for responding http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I really cannot understand how this diet is okay, since it is most high fat. I have a friend who was on this diet and she would come to work with a pound of bacon or sausage for breakfast and hard boiled eggs, for lunch she would eat a couple of thick hamburgers--no buns of course or a chicken breast, for snacks she would eat pork rinds and blocks of cheese----I don't know what she ate for dinner, maybe a side of beef! That is sooooo gross!
But, do you remember a few years ago that EVERYTHING was low-fat or no-fat? Oreos(yuck), Mayo(yuck), cheese(yuck), salad dressing(some were bad), cream cheese(yuck), sour cream(low fat Daisy brand is good but the rest were horrible).....I could go on and on. I'm sure this will blow over sooner or later.

Exactly and now they're saying eating all that fat contributes to higher cancer rates!

A former manager did the same thing. Bragged about how much weight she was losing and how "healthy" it was. We sent a nice potted plant to her hospital bed when she had by-pass surgery.

I totally agree! Everyone seems to be low-carbing! One of my co-workers is low-carbing and for breakfast, he'd bring...get this... a stick of salami and a block of cheese! His office smelled like a DELI!!! http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/lachen70.gif When I got laid off from that job, he and his wife took me to a place called Mission Burrito. Guess what he ate.....that's right....a chicken burrito wrapped in a LETTUCE LEAF!! http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/lachen70.gif mmmm mmmm now THAT'S tasty eatin'!

Yes....everything is low carbs. I see so much common food that folks have been eating just fine (in moderation) that is now sans carbs....such as chicken noodle soup (gimme a break)....MILK....even fat-a** Jack-n-the Box has a side note on their drive through menu that reads..."reduce carbs!...order bunless" http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Don't get me wrong...I've thought about it to shed a few pounds, but then I woke up. Now I just eat less http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The low carb diet DOES work, but it is very unhealthy. Most things that are listed on the 'low carb diet' consists of things high in cholesterol! I eat plenty of high carb foods everyday and I seem fine. As long as it's healthy, it's good to eat--just don't overdo it.
