This is in the gnc magazine
first ephedra has not been conclusively shown to lead to death. There is no evidence yet-- that doesnt mean that there will not be evidence, but there is none yet.
second, the federal ban on ephedra only applies to supplements not other things. For instance over the counter cold medicines such as Sudafed and Actifed use ephedra. So if ephedra is so dangerous why only single out supplements. These products contain the same amount of ephedra.
thirdly, Ibuprofen has been PROVEN to cause 17000 deaths every year, yet it still continues to be sold. So why hasn't it been pulled from the selves?

This whole ephedra story is not over. I spoke with a health store owner who has said that there are several injunctions against the ban and there is a hope that the ban will be lifted within the next year!

Thanks for sharing. I think that the wave of lawsuits scared manufactuers. That's too bad for those (including myself) who used it correctly.

yeah I agree. People immediately thought of FenPhen and panicked. This has been the only thing that has helped me lose weight and I do believe that there are other motives for the ban rather than just medicinal concerns.

I completey agree. Hi everyone I'm sorta new around here. Anyway I've heard the same things that you have luvhair, about ephedra. There are plenty of prescription and over the counter drugs that kill thousands of people a year ( not 1 or 2 ) that have not and will not be banned.

lorraine,
tell me about your experience with ephedra. Currently I'm taking xenadrine. Which supplement did you use and what were the results. TIA

I used Metabolite a few years ago and it worked great. But when I kept taking it (3 more bottles in the last few years), it lost its effectiveness. I still had the jitters and everything, but I wasn't losing any weight at all. So I've stopped taking them and I'm doing things the old fashioned way.

Yes in deed the old fashioned way is the best way. I guess I just wouldn't mind helping it along a little.

i had a hunch that ephedra had a bad rap b/c of misuse. i lost weight using metabolife! i use the ephedra-free version and it does nothing for me http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/perplexed.gif
