I'm am not sure if I buy it. For years, decades, even centuries, people have been saying that the day of the Lord is at hand. there are tons of websites, but I don't really want to post something as being informational because I don't which sites out there are trustworthy and of God or which ones are devils traps to pull people in to some sideways belief system.

If you find anything please do post it though.

It seems as though the scriptures use it ('hour of visitation") primarily to indicate a time of judgment (...e.g. "judgment day") or formal inspection by God (see bold) but also to indicate an actual appointment or appearance by or before the Almighty.

Dictionary.com (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?db=*&q=visitation):
1. the act of visiting.
2. a formal visit, as one permitted by a court's granting of visitation rights or by parents invited to a school to observe the work of students.
3. a visit for the purpose of making an official examination or inspection, as of a bishop to a diocese.
4. (usually initial capital letter) the visit of the Virgin Mary to her cousin Elizabeth. Luke 1:36–56.
5. (initial capital letter) a church festival, held on July 2, in commemoration of this visit.
6. the administration of comfort or aid, or of affliction or punishment: a visitation of the plague.
7. an affliction or punishment, as from God.
8. the appearance or coming of a supernatural influence or spirit.
Origin:
1275–1325; < L vīsitātiōn- (s. of vīsitātiō), equiv. to vīsitāt(us) (ptp. of vīsitāre; see visit, -ate 1 ) + -iōn- -ion; r. ME visitacioun < AF < L, as above

let me clarify myself before I get slapped with some holy water . What I mean is that there are some people out there claiming that Jesus is here right now, today. And that we are all missing it and waiting for a return that has already happened. I thought that is what you were asking about.

SuperNova: I was wondering what you were talking about in that 1st post. I could be incorrect but I think she just wanted resources and info to learn more about what that phrase means.

Based on the scriptures I read, the specific phrase she asked about seems to refer to judgement and or an actual visit from God, I did not get that it was referring to Jesus.

I'm going to have to re-read and investigate. :yep:

oh, when I did a quick google of the term, a bunch of websites came up. I know it is in the Bible, but I automatically assumed(I know shouldn't have done that)

So Foxy, did you find what you were looking for?

Hi, SN:

I was interested in the term at the individual level... like when it is prophesied to you that you are in an hour of visitation....

So I went to the dictionary and looked up the word "visitation":
a special dispensation of divine favor or wrath.

Well, I know for sure that it's about divine favor...so then I looked up the word "dispensation":
a particular arrangement or provision especially of providence or nature

and well http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/icons/icon7.gif, I know for sure that provision has been declared...so then I looked up the word "providence":
divine guidance or care; God conceived as the power sustaining and guiding human destiny

So that's what I came up with and I'm like  Hallelujah!
