Yesterday, I was determined to get my workout in and didn't get around to it until 9:30 PM. How late do you exercise?

7:00 pm is my usual workout time and I go to bed at 10:00, however I've been known to workout as late as 8:30 pm and it didn't bother my sleep pattern.

Lastnight, I did not workout until 8:30 or so, but I try to workout at about 5ish.

Last night I didn't go until after my night class at 8:30.
I usually go right after work around 5ish and skip working out on class days.

The latest is 9.30am. I exercise in the morning, even if it means waking up at 5am in order to get an 1hr in. If I oversleep or if I miss my morning slot then I count that day as a rest day and I make up for it on my usual rest day. For example, my rest day is supposed to be today but I skipped a workout yesterday as I had no time, so I worked out today. I don't believe in exercising at night (for me personally) but I can understand why people with severe time constraints choose to do so. It's most certainly better than forgoing exercise completely.

I was going during my lunch hour or before work. But both of those times got to be a lot of work to get to. So now I'm just going after work. I get off between 4-4:30 and try to stop at the gym on my way home. If I got home first then I dont go back out to the gym until about 8:30pm. That way I miss the crowd that shows up around 5-5:30.

I usually workout in the morning, but recently I started to workout after work (around 6:00 or 6:30 pm). I find I get a better workout in the evening, I just don't have enough strength in the morning to put my all into the workout. I'm usually in bed by 10:00 so I try not to do it after 7:30, if I do I have a hard time falling asleep.

If it's Friday or Saturday, then I might have a late night workout around 9ish( Since I don't have anywhere to be the next day too early)...other than that, I try to start no later than 7:30pm. I have been working out at night for so long that it actually helps relax me to sleep. If I try to work out in the mornings now, I am sleepy all day.

I've exercised as late as 10pm. I actually find it relaxing to hit my treadmill or elliptical and browse a magazine with my IPOD in. It's like I go into the zone, the kids are sleep, the phone isn't ringing, no one needs me, it's late so everyone is asleep or getting ready for the next day. I prefer to workout at night actually, especially when its HOT in the summer.

I used to workout around 11pm/12am because I wanted to go when no one else was at the gym (I hate waiting for the machines I want)! And I never had a problem falling asleep afterward.
Nowadays, i go in the AM on weekends and after class around 10pm on weekdays.
I excercise from 7:30 PM to about 8:30PM. I try to be done before 9PM so it does not mess up with my sleep. In the beginning it did but my body is getting used to it.

Good point! Exercising that late messed with my sleep last night. :ohwell:

Can you elaborate on why you don't believe in exercising at night? Thx!

Of course, no problem :). Aside from not being able to sleep properly, I don't believe it in for the following reasons:
1) I prefer morning cardio (before breakfast) because I think it burns more fat. If I exercise at night, my body will be burning off the food that I've ate and will take a while to start burning the fat. This topic is hotly debated though but I feel I saw better results by switching to morning cardio. I've read enough to suggest that fasted cardio is best though.
2) After you exercise, your metabolism is raised. I personally feel it's a waste for me to exercise and then go to sleep in a few hours or go home to relax because my day is over. When I work out in the morning, I'm able to capitalise on the post-work out burn because I'm still active as I'm running errands (walking) in the afternoon and some times in the evening.
3) It sets the tone for my day - I guess that's just psychological. When I've had a good morning workout (working out is literally the first thing I do when I wake up in the morning 5x out of the week), I feel that my day is more organised and runs more smoothly.
4) My workouts are more intense. I feel that there is no point waking up between 5am and 8am just to give a half-*** workout. I go hard. If I exercise at night (especially if I have a job), I'm tired mentally and physically and I'm just not going to go as hard.

Til about 9:30p at my current gym, but that's because step and abs classes are only offered in the evening.
