I have been going to my dry sauna, and I love how I feel since going. I wanted to know if anyone here goes to the dry sauna, and has lost weight and increased overall well being. I already go the gym for about 45 minutes before hitting the sauna for about 25 minutes; it's my treat:grin:. I have read that 20-25 in sauna burns between 300-600 calories. I know that sounds crazy, but I have read it on several sites, and the Finnish and Asian have used this for centuries.

By going to the sauna, I hope to lose weight, increase overall well-being, de-stress, rid my body of toxins and metals, and gain a clearer complexion.

Are there any others going to the sauna and achieving great results?

when i go to the gym, i do my final stretch in the dry sauna and it really helps with keeping my muscles from getting to sore. but i don't think i can do 20 mins in there.

I know that I am a little crazy about it. I stay in for way too long sometimes. I just love the zen-like feelings I get while in there.

What's the difference between a wet and dry sauna?

Dry sauna is dry no steam, a wet sauna is usually called a steam sauna. Steam saunas are good for your skin and pores, but the dry sauna is actually able to cleanse your body of toxins.

Here is some more information on it.

i'm going to the dry sauna today! lol i like the glow my skin has afterwards and i do it for weight loss. also everybody claims that its just water weight that you'll losing and you will gain it back. but i have read some articles about how your body is actually burning calories to keep your temp down. i don't know the truth but i just go anyways lol

I have heard the same thing as you, glamchick. I read that it burns between 300-600 calories per 15 minutes. If you feel you heart rate when you leave you will see that you heart is beating really fast. I think that it is more than water weight because I am going on more than week of consistent sauna treatments, and I am down 3 pounds.

so i just got back from the gym. i did 30mins of hardcore cardio, strength training for my arms, and 50 hanging leg curls. i was really going for the easy sauna treatment, but it was closed:lachen: so i was forced to workout since i was already there. so how many times do you go to the sauna per week? i'm also doing the master cleanse, just trying to lose as much weight as possible.

i probably will try again later today, but if not i'll go for 20mins after work tomorrow.

I try to go at least 3 times a week, but I also workout and run. I did a supertone class, ab class, and 45 minutes off and on in the sauna.

The health club I used to go to had a sauna. My current gym doesn't have one.

I got in the sauna maybe 5 times, but it never got warm enough. That must be why no one else used it. I was always the only one in there. I used to turn up the temperature, go change into my bikini and get a magazine, and go back in the sauna and sit there for 20 or 30 minutes.

I was going in there for the same reasons as you - hoping that the sauna would help me lose weight, reduce stress, improve my complexion, etc. Next time I belong to a health club with a sauna I'll definitely try again.

I use to go to the sauna and steam room all the time..but not for weight loss. I swear it gave my skin this glow.

At my old gym a lot of brazilians use to do it for weight loss. What they did was make sure they had lots of water (before and after they get out of the sauna) Stay in there for a few mins. Get out. Shower. Go back in (maybe do a scrub). Get out Go in the shower..go back in and so on.

I even saw someone with plastic around them.

All I know, I love how it feels to relax in the sauna after a nice workout or rough day :)

Okay, I've been going to the sauna regularly. I didn't realize how hard a time I have sweating. I bought a sauna suit and have been wearing it and I sweat much better now. I read that you burn 3-400 calories per 30 minutes. I can really feel my heartrate increase while I am in there.

Unfortunately, I have found myself getting dizzy too. I probably have been staying too long.
