View Full Version : Uncommon Symptom of Yeast Infection!

Usually, threads about vaginal health kinda ick me out, but since I'm going through something it doesn't seem as icky. :look:
I was always the type that thought yeast infections always included a fishy odor and cottage cheese discharge. So I was happy to say I never had a yeast infection before.
Occasionally, though, I get little fissures on my vaginal skin. In the folds of my vulva. If I look at it with a mirror it's like a paper cut. They would itch and burn like hell. Peeing was torture. I thought my husband maybe got too rough with the...well, he has facial hair...:look: Anyway, that wasn't it. STDs are out, I get tested for everything every 6 months or so.
So this was a really bad bout and I was forced to go to the Gyn. Apparently, I had a yeast infection. Shock and awe. No odor or discharge. Doc said it's more common than I would think and gave me some meds. Hopefully I'll be back to normal in a few days.
Someone told me this happens a lot in fat babies, their folds get overgrown with yeast and in the folds are little paper cut-like fissures.
The more you know, eh? Now if it happens again I won't have to suffer.
Perhaps I could have avoided all this by scooping. :look::lol:

Yeah, the cuts you talk about are similar to the cuts in Athlete's Foot which is also caused by yeast/fungus: painful, cracks like paper-cuts on the inside of the labia right at the base. Yeast sucks!

Was it a yeast infection or bacterial vaginitis or whatever? I know that BV can be asymptomatic(sp).

thank you for posting this. i've been postponing my 1st trip to the gyno for ages, because i'd rather not have some lady poking and peeking up my lady parts, but since so many things can be asymptomatic, i think it's bout time for me to go.
n i hope it clears up soon, OP!

I just had my first ever yeast infection and there was no odor and there wasn't a lot of discharge either. I spoke to my mom about it and she said that like me the only time that she has ever gotten yeast infections was when she was pregnant. She says it is one of her early signs of pregnancy.
This site: http://www.americanpregnancy.org/pregnancycomplications/yeastinfectionpreg.html
states that yeast infections can be caused by "hormonal changes that come with pregnancy"

Your husband might need to be checked for yeast too! I read somewhere that although men don't have the same symtoms as women when it comes to yeast infections, they could pass it on if they have a lot of yeast in their bodies. So even if you get cured, if he has it, he can pass it on to you again.

That's definately true because I kept getting them so my GYN told me to bring my SO in to be tested. Come to find out he had a yeast infection! All they do it give him a pill and it goes away in a couple of days. Now I'm yeast free!!

I too was surprised that men can have yeast infections and pass it on to their partners
Is A Yeast Infection Contagious? Can Men Catch Yeast Infections Through Sex?
Yes, infections are contagious with sexual contact and yes men can catch yeast infections. Yeast infections are considered an STD by the CDC. If sexual contact is made where one partner has an infection they can pass that yeast infection to the other partner. The partner may have no symptoms, or may get an infection if they have any predisposing factors. Men can get a penile yeast infection from sex when a women has a yeast infection. The women may then be treated and cured. The man may then pass the yeast infection back to the woman and so on. This is why it is important to treat both partners, particularly in cases of recurring yeast infections. Yeast infections can be spread by vaginal sex, oral sex, and anal sex. Condoms that contain the spermicide Nonoxynol-9 can cause a vaginal or anal yeast infection.

I tried to find the thread, but I guess it went to thread heaven cuz' I don't see it. Anyway, some chick on allhiphop posted some mess about the way to solving all your vaginal issues is scooping, as in taking a spoon or whatever and scooping out the vaginal discharge or whatever grossness is up there.
She got clowned because everyone knows that's a surefire way to cause vaginal issues, not solve them. The thread made it's way to Nappturality then here and has lived in infamy ever since.
Now every time someone posts something about vaginal health, we gotta mention scooping for kicks.

Scooping?? Are you serious? Hell naw! And yes men can pass it to you. I know my ex and I would be at it and I hadn't had a yeast infection ever, then boom, I got the itchies, find out what's wrong and yep it was. We continued after seven days and soon after I had the same symptoms and a UTI. I was pissed cause he didnt beleive he was the cause or that anything was wrong with his penis so he never got checked and I moved on.
