Now they are trying to telll us that the Master Cleanse is going to cause brain damage or make our hair fall out.

See, this is what happens when the word gets out that something may work that is not gonna enrich the whole diet and weight loss industry. Apparently, (according to the experts) lemon, water and Cayenne pepper will wreak untold damage to our bodies.
what do you think?
please share your reviews of the "Master Cleanse" I am dying to try it, but Lawd knows that I don't want my hair to fall out:nono:

The lady who got brain damage was on something called "The Amazing Hydration Diet" which from my google search sounds like a water diet.
The hair loss quote apparently comes from a statement that Richard Simmons made about yo-yo dieting.
The woman who had a heart attack was also on a different fasting program for six months. The MC goes to 40 days. If you're crazy enough to go past that then it's on you.

I don't think the Master Cleanse is perfect. I think there has to be something intrinsically wrong with drinking salt water and taking laxative tea everyday. At the same time, I'm sitting here able to breathe out of my nose without taking any allergy medication, so it's a plus for me.
ETA: I've done the MC 4 times and my complaints are the aftertaste and acid reflux from the lemons.

Oh please. They went and found medical mysteries for this. I've been on several different detox threads and I've never heard of ANY of these things happening to anybody.
You have no need to be worried about your hair falling out. In fact, look at our fellow LHCFer Sareca...beautiful hair and has done the MC several times.
ETA: You're completely right about them trying to steer us away from things that don't benefit the multi-billion dollar weight loss industry.

It was only a matter of time. You can't have something workin' and not require a prescription or "diet food." You wouldn't believe some of the stuff I've read about raw foods being 'bad for your health.' Yeah right! Tell that to my blood pressure and waistline!

I don't know if I'd believe the side effects would be that drastic but I would never do it coz I do think it is a harsh detox program. I worry about the nutrients your body isn't getting during the detox period. And I also don't feel laxatives are good things to take normally, let alone when you're not eating. But that's just me and my paranoia. Cayenne pepper and lemon--just thinking about them--gives me a sense of acidosis. Nah, I'm too chicken/delicate :p to do the Master Cleanse. I prefer easier detox programs that not only remove toxins but also take care of my body's nourishment during the fast as well as the liver that has to work so hard during detoxing. :yep:
