I would love to have beautiful calves again. My claves have no definition in my opinion....just two sticks.
At my job I climb four flights of stairs AT LEAST four times a day. But I definitely climb stairs more than that a day.
I wanted to know if there was a way that I work these stairs into my daily routine and goal of wanting beautiful calves. SHould I walk on my toes when climbing the stairs?
Let me know if I can use all these stairs to my advantage! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Thanks......daviine

How about standing or seated calve raises?

Actually, I meant more like as I was walking up the stairs. I think my students/colleagues might think I was weird if I stopped on the way to lunch to some calf raise....

I meant at home or at a gym. /forums/images/graemlins/nono.gif
I agree with Allandra,
do some seated/standing calf raises. Use dumbells sometimes when you stand if you aren't using a machine. Also walk around with dumbells in your hands and walk around on the balls of your feet on hard floors. Do one legged calf raises too. Make sure when you do calf raises, that you go up "leaning" towards big and center toes. Change the angle of your feet to hit different areas of the calf muscles.
Calves you must hit hard, pettiness won't do for them....LOL!
I find that this is one muscle group sista's could work on . There seems to be a tendency to have high calves among blacks- the look as if there are sticks even though the thigh maybe well developed. The muscles are attached high on the leg. One must build the muscle for a balanced look and sex appeal , especially in heels. (Hee hee)
Be sure that when you do your calves, extend them down for a stretch each time.

LOL!!!! Okay...actually at the gym thre's this one machine I used to use for that purpose but I haven't been going to the gym lately. I don't have any stairs in my house cuz I live in a building....Do I need like a step to do those....
I'm just a minimalist/lazy and was trying to kill two birds with one stone!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/drunk.gif

Allandra and Hada pretty much summed it up. Calf development has alot to do with genetics. I would suggest when you train them you go heavy and low reps. Think about it, they get used all the time and can endure a lot.
PS if you figure out a plan LMK. Cuz mine suck!

Climbing the stairs is GREAT for your THIGHS, BUTT and HIPS, but doesn't do as much for your calves because you're walking on flat feet and not engaging that muscle very much. The suggestions about calf raises are your best bet if you want to see results. Also, when you walk the stairs you'll probably work you calves better if you walk on the balls of your feet. This will keep the calf muscle engaged. But, again, calf raises are way more effective.
