Yay or Nay? Please share success stories or falures on the weight watchers (or similar) program.

Absolutley! You arent "dieting" when your on WW - you can eat whatever you want, but their system makes you be accountable for what you eat. You track your foods daily with a point system....every food has a certain number of points and if you eat within your points daily you will loose. Lost 20 pounds using it.

I also lost 20 pounds about 2 yrs ago following the flex plan. I really like that you can eat anything you like in moderation. I will admit I had more consistent results when I ate less bread during the week.

I think it has sound principles but it didn't work for me. :(

I lost 20 pounds when I was working the program. What helped me the most was counting the points and logging in everything I ate, and also weighing in and having to be accountable.

I gained them back though when I went off...so now I'm back to my food journal and counting calories.

Weight Watchers worked wonders for me a few years ago when I followed the plan. It's a good plan and if you are passionate about following the plan I'm sure it will work for you. It's not too hard to follow. I'm a believer though that what may have worked for one person may not be the best for someone else.

yes... definitely. I lost 15lbs the lat time I was on it. After I had my first child. Now come to think of it. I need to get back on it and lose these extra lbs after this on.e

It works....

i lost the first time i did it i lost 20 pounds with just walking 5 days a week for about 60 minutes.

i gained the weight back and then went back on it and lost 15 pounds and walking 5 to 6 days a week with maybe some Turbo jam 2 to 3 days a week.

I gained it back :( but im back on it now...

its the only plan that has worked for me and allows me to have the foods i like and not feel limited and restricted. You just have to be dedicated and count points instead of calories which i'll do anyday.

In 02 I lost 75 following WW in about 6.5 months. It works if you stick too it. I stopped the program I had too many issues going on and I got careless and reckless. I gain all of it back and then some. I went back to WW last Nov and I am down 60 pounds. By this time next year I plan to be at goal. I am focused now and my life depends on it.

BTW I was 31 in 02.

ETA: I worked out daily also. That helps alot.

It works for me because it teaches you about portions and good foods, etc...
So its more of a way of life...not a quick fix!!!

If u go to meetings then you can pay in advance i think its like free registration and 10 weeks is 110.00. Or you can pay weekly i think its between 11 to 13.00.

If you do it online i think i pay 16.95 per month.

For those of you who were unsuccessful, or gained weight after completeing the program - why do you think that was? Do you have to stay on WW in order to keep the weight off?

I'm currently doing the Flex plan - attending meetings - and I feel I'm making real progress :)

The absolute expert on Weight Watchers, and my "diet twin" is BAddison. She knows EVERYTHING and has achieved her goal weight. There is also this thread: http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=185033 - it is full of information, advice, and encouragement. :yep:

Well i mean its not really about purchasing a meal plan. But you get a choice to choose between the Core Plan or the Flex Plan. Some people switch back and forth between the two. I perfer the Flex Plan because you can basically eat whatever u want(within the portions and points).

I gained weight back because i stopped worrying about portions, started eating anything and not watching my points and portions, eating out more.(of course u can eat out at fast food and restaurants, but if ur not being watching ur portions or points and eating out frequently u could gain the weight back)

Weight Watchers is not like a diet so it is more of a way of eating. You can still have the foods you want but being mindful of portions..(i know i sound like the commercial)---so it would be best for you to stay on it to not gain the weight back. Its alot of women that have kept the weight off and have been successful at it. My sister lost 30 pound in 6 months and that happened in 2006. Since then she has kept her weight off by exercising and counting her points. So now she is a lifetime member(she doesnt have to pay for membership and she just goes in once a month just to weighin---so this keeps her motivated to stay in her weight range)

Like Sareca, the principles the program is based on make sense but it did not work for me. I lost and regained the same 8-10 pounds for over a year.

I finally saw success when I got off of WW. :perplexed I will say that I ate a lot more pre-packaged foods on WW (100 calorie this, 100 calorie that, Lean Cuisine, etc.). My eating habits are now more like CORE. HTH.

My mother is currently using the plan where she gets 20 days of pre-packaged meals, snacks and a vitamin supplement. She plans her own weekend meals from a guide book. She pays about $180 a month. She likes it and is losing weight, but the food is giving her diarriah :ohwell:.

That isn't Weight Watchers - is it perhaps Nutrisystem, LA Weight Loss or Jenny Craig?

There isnt a prepackaged program with WW. I mean you can go and buy frozen WW meals at grocery stores, but also Lean Cuisine and Healthy Choice has the points on them. WW also has some other products that are sold at grocery stores such as, cookies, desert cakes(frozen and not frozen), ice cream, bread, shredded cheese, and yogurt.

What Chocolatte was referring to sounds more like Jenny Craig or Nutrisystem or something along that line.
