My period "seems" to be trying to come this week. If is comes this week, then it means the next time she comes will be the week of my vacation!!:wallbash:
I am soooooo mad! I am not on the pill. I never know when exactly it will arrive. It was supposed to come next week. but NOOOOOOOOOO she wants to show her ugly face this week. UGGGHHHHHHHHH!
Question, is there a pill or something I can get from my GYN to stop her from coming during my vac? I think I heard of something but was not sure if it was true or not. I was never one to mess with the cycle but now I am a little desperate.
Also, is it true that if women who are on their cycle still get into the water with no problem? Something about the water keeping it from flowing out? Assuming that they are wearing a tampon of course.
HELP!!!

hmm... i know there are herbs you can take to prolong your period, and there are some you can take to make it come faster (so you can get it over wtih). there are also some to make it shorter. i forgot what they're called... they have this long, fancy, hard to pronounce name, but there was a thread about them earlier.
i know ginger and parsley are two, but i forgot what they do :)

Ginger? I have been drinking a lot of ginger tea lately. I hope this is not the reason "she" is trying to come early!:nono:

yep, the ginger tea might be doing something.
here's a GREAT site that goes into detail about it:

whatever you do, do NOT mess with mother nature!
You can DEFINATELY get in the water w/ tampon and have no fear of being "exposed"
Your period is your friend and tampering with or impeding it in any way can be a terrific mistake. The ginger plays a role in stimulating blood circulation so you may want to slow down on the ginger tea, to be sure.
Not sure what the vacation plans are but it is entirely possible to have a great vacation even if you have to pack a little extra baggage.
best,

not completely... but it made the flow so light it only lasted a day or so and was more like spotting.
To make the tea is a lot of trouble though and you have to drink if for a whole week for it to work.

I was going to suggest the tampon too. If you'd been on a pill, you can miss your period by not taking the one week break and just starting the next pack, but the problem is your next flow will be like a tsunami.

Oh that sucks. Just use a tampon it should cover you (if you're not a heavy bleeder) for swimming. I wouldn't bother with trying to alter my cycle w/ the hormones or herbs since it's just a one time deal. Those things sometimes take a couple months to really go into affect.

Thanks ladies.
I think I am not going to mess with it. Like I said before, I was never one to mess with mother nature. But I got a little desperate I guess.:look:
Thanks FastGirl for letting me know that it is "OK" to get into the water with "her". I guess if that is the case, that is what I will be doing.:ohwell:

but what if u dont like wearing tampons?
i went on a beach vacation last yr and my periods came and i was forced to wear a tampon and i hated it. i had to spend most of the day out of the water with a pad.

I'm not sure what your vacation plans are, and it's unlikely to be a problem, but sharks can smell blood from a distance. I would avoid going into the water (at the beach) if I was menstruating.
