What will you still do as gas and food prices rise?
I will always go to get my eyebrows threaded. I'm rubbish at shaping them and I think tweezing hurts more than threading. I will still go every two weeks no matter what.

I'll never give up my waxing or my pedicures, I NEED them! :lachen:
So what if I have to eat ramen every now and then?

I have already given them ALL up
I still like to get quality products to do my own treatments...those that I can do myself...but I'm finding myself buying less and trying to use up what I already had.

I still get pedicures especially in the summer time. I can slack up in the winter.

I do my own eyebrows and pedicures mainly cause I can get them how I want them almost every time. Removing my upper lip hair is a little more difficult tho and I find that threading my upper lip gives me the most thorough, longer lasting hair removal. Im still working on a solution that I can do myself tho.
If times were hard and I HAD to give up something, I could give them all up. I have quality products, and I can do all of this myself. But I would cry a river at giving up my threading. :cry3:

I don't usually need to get any of that done so I'm not giving up anything really. When I get a pedicure or manicure at the salon, it's only coz I am feeling lazy. It's not like they do anything I wouldn't do for myself at home. Besides, the last time I had a manicure, I just got mad at how incompetent they are. My nails were shiny and smooth. So much so that the lady kept trying to wipe off the polish with remover on a piece of cotton till I told her there wasn't any. So why did she have to buff them again with a rough buffer to an ugly dullness? Do they even understand why they buff? Then my edges were smooth and shaped (I buff my edges after filing) so why did she bring out a nail file suitable for acrylic nails or toes and file my nails making the edges all rugged and looking like they had hair/fibers? I think I was in uber shock to stop her--like watching a train wreck and not being able to tear yourself away. Or maybe I wanted to have a darn good reason never to go to anyone to do anything for me that I can do myself (My first lesson was going to a stylist after 5 years of being independent and regretting it big time!).
So gas prices or not, I wasn't planning on going to anyone for anything I can think of.

Now that I've started getting my eyebrows threaded I won't be giving that up. Might try to go a little longer keeping my brows clean myself, but I'll always go back before things get out of hand. Lol.

I voted other...
I only get mani's on rare occasions now after years of acrylics...but that's not due to gas prices, it's because I enjoy doing my own mani's and pedi's and I have about 6 dozen bottles of polish to choose from...!
I love buying products and doing my own hair with few exceptions.
I think I might actually start getting professional facials because I don't think I can do a good job myself.
Otherwise I can cut back on eating out to save the most money.. I need to start packing my lunch for work!! And cut back on that Sushi and Sashmi (but I ain't cuttin back tonight LOL) :nono:

I cant give up threading my eyebrows....that will never be an option. I cant even pluck my eyebrows on my own without crying. Seriously its that bad. I gave up on the pedicures though. I gotta learn how to be patient and do it on my own.

the 1 thing I just CANT give up is my date at the spa.... Once you've had a professional massage, there is no going back
since Ive moved out of the NYC area Ive given up on a LOT not because of price but because of value...
at "home" I can get a GOOD pedicure for $10-$15
here is DMV, you will pay $25+ and not even get your feet scraped... they think using pumice and lotion is enough... so Ive invested in a callous remover & some Opi and do my own
I do my own facials thanks to me buying glycolic acid wholesale & me being introduced to Ayurveda ( I use Shikakai Soap, rosewater & lemon powder to clean..toner= witch hazel)
the only thing I havent mastered is doing my own eyebrows

I gave up my bikini waxes and pedicures, but I'm about to go back to paying people to do it for me. I like the feeling of being pampered.

i wish i could say this myself...i have nice nails (thanks hair/skin/nails vits) so i can paint them myself and with a ped-egg and some olay quench i can hook my toes up as well. i need to learn how to do my own brows, cause i can only maintain them for a little while before i slack off...but if i can find a threader i dont know whether i would be able to give that up.

Since I work in a spa I trade services with my coworkers (stylist, nail techs, esteticians and massage therapist). I haven't paid for services in 14 years!

I couldn't give up having my eyebrows arched, even at $25 a pop. Sometimes an arched brow can just lift your entire mood - much needed in a down economy. Everything else I can do myself.
