nail polish on my fingernails. Those chemicals coming in contact with the mouth from eating can't be good.

I never wear nail polish on my fingernails. I prefer them natural.

I stopped wearing colored nail polish about 2 months ago but for some reason decided to buy and wear clear (with tiny pink sparkles) about a week ago. It discolored my nails just like the colored polish does. I took the clear off on Saturday and decided to never wear it anything on my nails again. I still wear toe nail polish tho. :ohwell:

I had stopped wearing polish on my toes. From the fall to the winter they had finally grown out and I had white tips on my toenails. Dh asks me to start back wearing polish on my toenails and I did now they're yellow without polish again. I'm going to work on them this fall and just give up the polish after this.

Do you bite your nails??
I didn't think of the polish getting in my mouth because I rarely put my fingers in my mouth. I also buy nail polish that doesn't have the harsh chemicals people worry about (can't remember the names but many nail companies have stopped including them)

I also came across a "organic" nail polish a few weeks ago. I will try and look for the link

As for nail discoloration, its important to use a base coat to protect your nails

No, I don't bite my nails, but with food preparation and eating, there's a great chance the nail polish chippings get in the food:yep:

To prevent nails from getting yellow, always use a base coat. I don't wear nail polish on my fingers but that's because I don't want to do my nails so often.

Ladies, there is organic nail polish. I saw it on Sara Snow's show on the Discovery Health channel. I think she lives 100% organic or very close to it.

I've tried at least a dozen different base coat products. My nails still discolor. What brand do you use?

Iworked in a natural spa for about a day and the brand they carried was called SPAritual.I didn't even know vegan, organic nail polish existed. There were different treatments as well as gorgeous colors.

I go to an organic spa myself. Spa ritual and a natural polish remover has replaced my old favorite OPI. It requires multiple coats to get the color effect and doesn't last as long so I put the color on my toes but just the clear on my nails. I found it a little pricey but my health is important:)

I used to be a nail technician. From my past experience, wearing a good basecoat and top coat and buffing with a smooth buffer will keep your nails from turning yellow. Here are a few of my favorites.
