Why don't folks mind their business?

Ten lbs is a size so if you gain that and don't fit your clothes it is best you try and do something about it before the ten turns into 20 or 30.

That is SO ANNOYING!!!

I know others have had this happen.

I can't stand that either. Yes it has happened to many that attempt preventative measures in regards to weight gain. You gotta stay ahead of the buldge before it gets outta control.

Hey Vev how did the interviews go the other day? Did you pick the pageant chick?

Those were telephone interviews, and now I'm doing the face to face. I think the little nerdy girl is the best choice.

The pageant girl comes in tomorrow.

It happened to me, and unfortunately, at the time I paid it no mind. I thought it was "nothing", cause I was so slim. I just didn't worry about it cause my waist was "still slim", and everytime I went through a traumatic experience, I put on another 10lbs. Then my pregnancy left me with another 20. Next thing I knew, I was where I feared I would end up.

If I had known better, or even cared to learn about it at the time, I would have lost the weight before getting pregnant, and worked out during my pregnancy, so that weight loss would have been less "taxing" on my body.

I know better now, and also want better! Don't listen to anyone who complains about you wanting to maintain your shape. Keep at it; keep on top of it!, cause if you don't, you'll soon be out of shape!! :nono: You're doing the right thing!! :yep:

Yup, it's very annoying. I never pay attention to it though because the people that usually say that to me are not who I want to be listening to about weight loss.:nono:

This happens to me a lot. Thing is, I need to lose more then 10 pounds and it's obvious. People who are smaller then me and are trying to lose weight always seem to tell me I don't need to lose anything and i'm small. Yea ight..

How am I small and don't need to lose weight when you are smaller then me and trying to lose weight.

This is exactly what happened to me. After I gained 40 lbs., kept it on for 2 years, and decided to lose it, a few people belittled me and pressured me not to lose any weight. They were so irritated with me. 2 of them are women I know who are smaller than I am and they're always complaining about their weight or trying to lose weight. I thought they would understand, so I was surprised when they were so annoyed. I'm 5'7" and I went from about 130 lbs. to about 170. Now I'm about 150. I've learned to just lie and tell other people that I'm maintaining.

I agree...I find that most people aren't very encouraging with this type of thing...I have a friend and though we were never the same weight we were both overweight and had a similar shape...ever since I started losing weight she always makes snide comments to me almost as if she wants me to stay overweight so she wouldn't be the only one in our group of friends who was.....

Happening to me now! I have tried for years to lose the weight and now that I am ppl want to stop me. I really want to get to 135 but they are acting like I will die if I get "that small" hello I'm 5'2! And yes one of them is smaller than me!

Happens to me all the time. Though I am trying to lose lbs (stomach fat), I'm am not trying to lose a size.

What matters is the weight/size makes YOU feel comfortable.

Why don't folks mind their business?

I hate it when a family member tells me this- after knowing how I gain weight so easily. If I'm not comfortable at my weight and as long as I'm not showing signs of being anorexic then just encourage me please!!! I think that members in my family find it acceptable being overweight and consider it being "healthy" but it is not! To many studies have shown that heart attacks and other illnesses are link to being overweight and I don't want to be another statistic.

If someone I don't really know tells me this, it really doesn't bother me as much. I'll just say "thanks" and keep it moving.

When I was ten lbs lighter, all I heard was how anorexic I looked and i was too thin. I weighed 125 lbs. My father died about 3 weeks ago and ever since then I put on 10 lbs. My clothes don't fit and now all I hear is wow, you put on weight. I mean, what gives? I want to start working out and eating right to get healthy and lose the ten lbs and although I am not in a rush to lose them, I'm tired of being criticized when I am at my happy weight which is 125.

FYI- Since I was a 16, I never was below 145. My highest weight about 4 yrs ago was 185 and it took me about 2 yrs to get down to 125 because I hit a plateau at 143 lbs that lasted about 8 mths.

yeah, this always seems to be the case :perplexed.

people said this to me when i had about 10 more pounds to lose. i wasn't even that thin when people were saying things like "you don't need to walk, you're fine" :eh: and "stop losing weight". i found it irritating at first and then i got complacent. there were some people who kept silent about my loss when when i gained again, they were real quick to say, "you're fat now!!" and "have you gained weight?"

i no longer pay either of these type of comments any mind now that i'm taking care of my body and health.

That is my height and goal weight also:yep:

I usually don't tell people I'm trying to lose weight, however, the conversation came up between my husband, his male cousin and me. The male cousin was like "you do NOT need to lose weight:nono:" and he has said this a few other times in the past too. DH was like:rolleyes:

I get this. I wonder if some people feel like they are giving a compliment when they say it. I have also gotten get the completely idiotic "What are you working out for? You don't need to lose any weight."
Anyway, I have learned to just say "I'm trying to get back in my jeans (or other clothing item)" and just leave it at that.

Thank you for posting this! I'm one of the smaller people in my family and they're always telling me this. But when I can't fit into any of my clothes and I don't want to buy a whole new wardrobe (not to mention the fact that I can't afford to) I know I need to lose weight! Plus, I want to feel good about MYSELF! It is so annoying.
