I'm pretty slim, but recently I've gained a lot of weight in my stomach area. I know exercise is the best solution, however I was wondering if there were some quick solutions to getting rid of about 5-10 lbs.? Sorry for the dumb question, I'm just knew to this.

I was just searching online last night on getting rid of tummy fat. This is what I found, so Im gonna sum it up in a nutshell:

~Interval training
~No white bread, rice, etc. Only good carbs like oatmeal, whole grains, etc
~No junk food-ie, pastries, cookies, etc

Im gonna try to follow this advice because I really want a flat tummy.

Gotta co-sign with shunta.

All the crunches in the world will not get rid of belly fat.

There is no proof that area targeting works when it comes to reducing fat.

Incorporate shunta's suggestions into your lifestyle. She's right interval training is a fast fat burner lean muscle builder. I too do similar things. I limit "bad" carbs (anything white or flour based - breads, rice, cereals, etc) and I eat good carbs (whole grains, whole oats, brown rice). Limit sugars, high fructose corn syrup, pre-packaged foods, etc.

Increase your cardio exercises and yes, do crunches too, just know that crunches alone or in excess don't banish belly fat. Proper nutrition and cardio do combined with weigh bearing exercises.

Go to the library and get LL Cool J's book. It is really good at explaining, teaching, and gradually introducing the body to exercise and nutrition.

there was a thread a summer or two ago where people were wrapping their mid-sections in plastic wrap to sweat the weight out. I remember they said you had to wrap very tight and then workout to start sweating

Raw foods is the fasted way to rid yourself of belly fat in the shortest amount of time... It worked for me. :yep:

7-14 days @ 100 % raw fruit and veges, or just raw fruit will do the trick 5-10 pounds of belly fat gone!

check out Jay Robb's (clinical nutritionist) e-book entitled THE FRUIT DIET (2007)

First Magazine also has an article in the June 30,2008 issue about this very thing. The top 15 fruits are...

1) strawberries
2) raspberries
3) watermelon
4) grapefruit
5) cantaloupe
6) honeydew
7) papaya
8) peaches
9) tangerines
10)oranges
11)apricots
12)pineapple
13)blueberries
14)plums
15)apples

The fruits that top the list are the fruits with the highest volume of fiber, water and enzymes. These fruits have live enzymes that aren't destroyed by cooking. The enzymes nourish your liver which in turn flushes fat and bloat plus speeds up your metabolism of " fat-storing toxins by 33%" according to the researchers at Stanford University School of Medicine.

I also concur.. if you want to lose belly fat without having to do all of the bazillion crunches...this is the way to go. I lost 20 pounds mostly in the belly and it only took 30 days. I am apple shaped...so I gain weight mostly in the middle.

I started doing 100 crunches in the morning and 100 at night, and shortly there after it looked lie I had a three breast!:perplexed:perplexed

I was trying to look fine for a specific occassion and outfit needless to say I had to ducttape and girdle and corset it down. PLEASE FOREGO THE CRUNCHES!

you could do crunches, sit-ups etc 'til kingdom come and you may have strong ab muscles but it will all be concealed under the fat. it's best to stick to a clean diet (this reduces bloating), don't add in extra salt to your food and do some moderate-high intensity cardio 4-5x per week.

it's best to do it the steady and healthy way (which may be slow) because then the bulk of weight loss will be from body fat. often times, when people try to lose weight too fast and in an unhealthy manner, they may lose weight (as reflected by the scales) but they don't lose actual fat, they lose muscle (which means your metabolism will become slower) and water (and not much fat).

sorry this happened to you. however, i'm not even surprised. i'm heard many times that crunches are an out of date, sometimes dangerous and ineffective way to get firm abs. they look they give is one some women don't even like anyway. i would do something else for sleeker abs such as pilates or callanetics.

Woooooooooooooow I could really do this. However my question is how do you do this without passing out. I always kinda feel light headed after awhile when I only eat fruits for lunch. But if I can get rid of this stomach....

WHAT?! And I had just started doing crunches yesterday. Thanks for that info because I will not be repeating.

I guess cardio does make sense because if I gained the fat in my belly to begin with then a fat burning exercise should melt the fat where it gathered right?

Interesting. Once you stopped eating the fruit did you gain it right back, or did you make other changes to your regular diet to maintain?
