Okay, today was the first day I put coconut oil on my skin before heading out for work. Today in DC is EXTREMELY hot and even at 7:30 this morning the sun was overbearing. By the time I walked the 3 blocks to the bus stop, sweat is just pouring off my head, arms and legs and my light cotton shirt is getting drenched in sweat. This was all because of the coconut oil that I slathered on my body. But I love coconut oil and the way it makes my skin glow and how it keeps the ashyness at bay so my question is how are you ladies managing with wearing coconut oil and the heat?

Yes, For one i hate heat and sweating, but secondly, when coconut oil gets warm, and you have more than you need on you, seems like it starts turning to liquid even more and getting thinner and running/dripping and that makes the whole heat/sweating situation so much worse :nono:
So while im in still in the shower/tub and wet, i put the oil on me (I use all kinds of oil now though), then step out, and dry my skin like usual. The oil just seeps into the skin, its soft, moisturized, and there is no excess.....I always do this like 15-30 min. before i actually leave out of the house so it has a good chance to absorb and im not hot from the shower.
then i spray on sunblock, and use powders/deoderents for sweating.

I don't usually oil my skin before leaving the house in the summer. I do that only at bed time for the reason you described.

I was out in the heat and had no problem. But I only put on about a quarter sized amount in my hands for my whole body. It smells yummy!

You have a point here. I forgot to put my coconut oil in the basement where it stays semi-solid so it was liquidy this morning and because of that I think I did put a heavy amount on my skin.....Hmmmm...I will experiment with using it while it's solid as well as trying it in the shower. thanks!

I really think I used to much now that I think about it. I used way more than a quarter sized amount. It seemed as though I was being deep fried when I as standing outside.

I used about the same amount and didn't have any problems either.

Yeah, that's what I plan on doing. Now that I think about it, I think I used a handful of coconut oil and slathered it all over.:look: Not doing that again, at least not in the summer.

A light lotion by Alba Botanica, Jason's Aloe Vera Cream (also light) or Jason's Cocoa Butter Cream.

You had me scared from the title. I was like I can't use my coconut oil this summer?!?! It's my lotion so no leaving the house without it. A little goes a long ways so I was fine this morning. I apply it by just dipping the tip of my fingers into it on one hand and then rub it onto the other hand, then spread it on.
Did you every found out a good natural sunscreen? I thought it was coconut but I think a poster said that it wasn't.

LOL! That is what I'm going to do. Just use a little. I was never able to find a good sunscreen. From what the other posters said, the coconut oil would not be enough. So I am now back to my trusty Hawaiian Tropics SPF30.

I cut my coconut oil down by mixing it with some Coconut Body Butter. I use more butter than coconut oil so that it sinks and doesnt come pouring out of my glands when it gets hot. Po' baby, i bet you were sweating buckets!!

I personally find coconut oil to be a bit much in this kind of weather...I put aside mine for now and just use regular lotion...

Exactly! Next morning my skin is soft and smooth. It works great on my feet. Keeps them soft, no need for a pumice stone!

I just got some coconut oils and I must have missed the notice about the runnyness.:nono: I was all dressed up at some function with a bootleg wash and go and had oil just a dripping all over the place and staining my shirt. I was not pleased.

Guuuuuuuuuuuurrllll, That heat was no joke. I did use my coconut oil everyday without any problem. I jump in the shower as soon as I wake up, use the oil in liquid form as soon as I dry off (a little goes a long way). The I go about my morning routine (hair, breakfast, cleaning up) giving time for my skin to absorb the oil then sunblock get dressed and out the door.
