Not that Ruben will even see me at the concert (he might though http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif ) and if he did, not that he would say anything b/c he weighs alot more than me...with his cute self http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif But you know everyone tries to look cute for a concert and it has kind of given me an actual date and reason to do it.

All help, support, motivation will be accepted on this thread until May 8th http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif This is the same 10 that I've been trying to lose for about a year--but it's my fault that I haven't I guess. I got discouraged after I got stuck in a 3 pound window and my weight wouldn't go lower than that. I'm not in love with exercise, but I'll do it. It's when I don't see the results that I stop exercising, b/c of course--who wants to do all that hard work for naught.

Anyway, your tips and suggestions are appreciated. Traditional weight loss methods don't seem to work for me. (diet and exercise) http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif In fact, any time that I've lost major weight, it's been unintentional.

OMG Supergirl...I've seen your pics and I think that you are gorgeous!!! However, I'll share what a coworker who was stuck on a plateau just shared with me.

She lost about 30 pounds and had 15 to go, but wouldn't budge, despite sticking with her diet and continued exercise. She stared to do what body builders do, which is to jump-start her metabolism, by eating several small meals throughout the day.

For instance, she'd have the same amount of calories (I'll just say 1500 per day), but she'd split them up into 6 meals. She lost 20 pounds and looks terrific.

Thanks Webby--every bit of advice helps. I'll definitely give that a try http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Do a search at google for body builder's diets...you'll find a lot of interesting information. Some you'll use, some you'll discard, but you'll know what's right for your body. Whatever works, let me know...I'll be ready to start shedding my baby weight in a couple of months.

Ladylibra...I'll give this a try too. I've heard of it, but never found the premise.

I totally agree with Webby. Also, cut off everything at a reasonable hour at night. They say two hours before bedtime. I say three or four. That really helps, but is difficult. Also, eat your heavier foods early in the day and "lighten up" as the day goes on. Do you not intend to do any exercise? Sometimes it helps to do something completely different that your body is not used to.

No, I'm going to try to motivate myself to exercise. I really am http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

drink more liquid. Sumtimes we associate hunger for thirst. Als eating high fiber cereal in the morning (aka frosted mini wheats or shredded wheat) makes me feel full for up to five hours. So If I eat breakfast at 8 am, I wont be hungry till about one.

If you'll be using weights, the most time-efficient way of weight training is pyramiding the weights. This is done by adding weight to each set while reducing the repetitions. It's a bodybuilders trick

Example
Set 1 - 12 repetitions - 1 lb. weight
Set 2 - 10 repetitions - 2 lb. weight
Set 3 - 08 repetitions - 3 lb. weight

Supergirl,

I found a couple of the links I was talking about...you may find something else to substantiate what these links say, but this will give you an idea:

fitness.com (http://en.fitness.com/health_weight_loss/v1025474954.php)

ivillage.com (http://www.ivillage.com/diet/features/memtips/articles/0,,199402_42774,00.html)

Hope I'm not a broken record here, but Cathe has one helluva pyramid workout. Actually two. Pyramid Upper body and Pyramid Lower Body. If you try it even on your own, it is really effective to pyramid up and down, of course using weights that are challenging to you.

Joyce Vedral's workouts use the pyramid system as well.

Does she have a video or book? I can't search now (I'm supposed to be working really hard.)

She has several books, I have one (I forget the title -it is at my parents house). I don't use it anymore if you are interested I can send it to you.

I once checked out her book from the library,so you may be able to find it. The book was called Toning for Teens by Joyce Vedral. It's not just for teens though. And it's very informative. I'd recommend it to everyone. She has some tapes too I think you have to order from her website.

Supergirl- Please don't lose weight for the concert. Lose it because you want to be healthier. You are a very pretty woman. Reuben would be lucky to have you because in addition to looks you seem really sweet.

Now if you are serious about losing ten pounds. I would say cut out as much carbs as you can. Atkins really help me to shed 10 pounds in addition to exercising. Cut out breads, cereals, dairy, some fruits (bananas, other surgary fruits). Start doing cardio at least three days a week to get your body toned.

Thanks Sbaker,

I really do want to lose this 10 pounds--the concert just gave me a goal date to have it done by. It's not expressly for the concert http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
