Question for Phentermine users...

I am on the 37.5 ones (white with blue specks) Let me start by saying that I LOVE THEM... however, I feel like there is something lodged in my throat. Not like my throat is swollen or an allergic reaction or anything, but it's like something in my throat. I drink water to make it go down, it goes down and then comes back up to the same spot. It's small... kinda like the pill itself didn't go all the way down my throat. The reason why I ask you ladies is because my cousin was on it- prescribed by a different doctor in a different state, the same pill and had the same exact experience. The experience made her stop taking them because she couldn't stand the feeling, and the problem stopped in about a week. I must admit, it is annoying. Has this happened to you?

BTW: I'm not stopping them though, because I know they work and I view this swallowing thing as just making me drink more water. Thanks in advance for all responses.

ETA:: This is not my 1st time being on them. I don't remember this issue with my throat before when I was taking them.

I know what you are talking about! I switched to the capsules because I couldnt stand the taste/feeling.

I think when she asked about tolerance, she meant does your body get used to a certain dose and then it isnt as effective?

No, I actually haven't had that issue with this mg as of yet. I was on the lower at first, yellow capsule- I forgot what mg, but it was working at first and then I started feeling hungry a lot and they gave me this dosage. I've been fine with these so far:yep:

Re: tolerance;
I've found that taking a half dose every now and then, or ommitting a whole dose for a few days and then starting full dose again sort of "wakes" me up - I don't feel like I can eat through it so easily then.

OKay, so I started back on Phentermine the day that I posted this thread, 5/7/2008. To date, I have lost 13 lbs!! I've weighed myself this morning and I am SO happy!! I haven't worked out like I wanted to and I didn't take it this weekend because I went out. I've also been eating alittle bit of junkfood... Anyway, I'm BACK ON TRACK because if I lost that much and I wasn't even really doing what I was supposed to do, can you imagine how much I would've lost by now?!?!

Since I started taking them, I haven't exercised besides hula hooping. I am getting back on the ball though. I also stopped having that stuck-in-my-throat feeling.

People can buy it online, but it's supposed to be prescription only. IMO, prescribed is the best and safest way to go. Your doctor has to keep up with your blood pressure and make sure that you're okay while you're on it. Also, you never really know what you're getting when you buy pills online- I wouldn't advise doing that.:nono:

Yes, and those two meds together is what was toxic to people. But Phentermine is fine by itself and it does work. But on a diet pill like that, you'd want to stay under a doctor's supervision. Chile, your questions are no problem, I'm nosey too :lol:

Yes, but they dropped the other medication, fenfluramine that was actually causing heart attacks. Phen phen was a combination of fenfluramine and phentermine. Both drugs have been on the market for years as appetite/weight loss and at some point, drs. found that prescribing them together would result in a greater weight loss.....on their own, they would only work for a short term weight loss.

Then they realized that the combination of them was causing valve problems, heart attacks, etc. and they took the combo off the market. Phentermine by itself is pretty safe is used with a drs supervision, the main problem being blood pressure.

Thanks all for the info! I remember I wanted to try Meridia a while back but my insurance wouldn't pay for it.

I knew I had heard Phentermine somehwere, It's funny I don't hear about Phentermine or Meridia any more. Xenical was hot for a while but that has even died down. Hmm.
