I'm thinking about joining this kickboxing only facility near my house. It looks amazing. When it's empty all you see is the punching bags, bright lights and mirrors. When it's in use, the windows are all fogged up and sweaty. :look:
I dunno, I just need to do something different and to get my booty moving.

Kickboxing (muay thai) and boxing are the best things I have ever done to get into shape. It's faster and more effective than anything else I have ever tried. You get a great workout AND you get to walk around knowing you can kick a** :lachen:
No, seriously. You should try it. Most places give you a class for free to try. Just be prepared -- it is HARD WORK. But you will improve quickly.

I cardio kickbox (which at my gym is a combo of Tae-Bo and regular boxing) 4 times a week...and I agree it kicks your butt but is so awesome!
I havent actually kickboxed at a studio like you described but I have thought about joining the one here called LA Boxing. I have so much respect for boxers because the training they do is HARD and intense! :yep:

I saw you mention these in another thread and was going to ask how it was working for you. I've seen a few (and I mean one or two) cardio kickboxing classes and have been curious for a while, but they are very hard to come by.

I just went to the website and saw the video, it looks like a fun workout. I love kickboxing, it REALLY burns major calories.

I will agree with this. No matter what I try, I ALWAYS go back to kickboxing. Nothing works like it, for me atleast.

I started boxing/muay thai for 4-6 days a week and lost 22lbs in about 2 months. I stopped lifting entirely, b/c I didn't have time to recover, AND I really didn't need to. The cardio aspect of it burned major calories and whittled me down, and the repetitive motions (punching, kicking, ducking, bouncing) got my arms, legs, and abs super defined. Usually when I would lift, first I'd have to bulk up and then my body would start to reshape itself. There was no waiting period this time. It gives you a sleek defined physique, bulkier than say - a dancer body - but very athletic looking.
I like going to a fighting gym to train b/c I feel like I'm learning a skill, which keeps it interesting, and for self-defense. I think cardio kickboxng like Tae Bo are also great, but if someone attacks you in an alley they might not help you much. :look:

And this is very true. ;) I've also heard other people say that kickboxing works you out like nothing else (at this point, I get my cardio workout on the treadmill). I might get a Tae Bo DVD at some point to switch it up a bit and keep my workout fun. :)

I incorporate a cardio-kickboxing class to my workout regimen, twice a week for 45 mins and I love it! The class combines muscle conditioning with kickboxing combinations, definitely gets the heart pumping and works up a sweat:yep:
