Any answers? My husband has been coughing and clearing his throat after eating. It's gotten so bad lately that he won't even chew gum or have a mint at the movies, cause then he spends 20-30 minutes clearing his throat and coughing. There is no phlegm, but he always has a stuffy nose. Sometimes he'll be talking to me and I'll stop him and ask him if he can breathe through his nose. He doesn't even realize it's stuffed up most of the time (but I do).

Anyone else have this problem? Have you ever heard of it? What should he do for it?

Is a doctor's visit in order?

I appreciate all replies. Thanks!

It depends on what he is eating. I get that alot with fatty foods, fast food, pizza, heavy pastas. I think its a "side effect/after effect" from eating them. I heard this else where as well. I think it was with singers and what they should/shouldnt eat before a performance

Go with him for a checkup! The doc can check for any abnormalities or maybe do a quick swab to see if he has an infection. If it's possible go with him because you are more observant/concerned about it than your DH, so the doc will listen to you more and do what's necessary to get answers.

It may be nothing or a little something but knowing for sure will ease your mind!

From a Holistic Standpoint, It sounds like he's allergic or reacting to something he's eating.
Yeah, he has no mucous, but he has the phlegm, and the mucous build up in his lungs-which is why he's coughing and clearing his through to clear it. (It's just not enough to be released one good time)

People who are allergic to milk or Lactose intolerant often get phlegm and drippy noses along with stomach aches, etc...

When he goes to get a check up at the doctor, suggest he get a food allergy test.
Even better, track what he's been eating for meals for the last little while and see if there's something that he's changed in his diet.
