I normally don't wax my nether region, I Nair the top and clean up everything else with a trim but I decided to be adventurous...OH MY GOD! I will NEVER put my body through this again! I can handle my eyebrows, even my legs but I can't do this again...I just wanted to vent because I was in serious pain..

Really? I've thought about getting a brazilian wax too. I've been told to take ibuprofen before getting it done.

I'd be interested too...
It's not for the faint of heart no... http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/nono.gif
Sorry you're in pain girl...if u have some powder that'll help with the stinging and the sticking. And Tend Skin will prevent ingrowns, but you have to use it within the first day or two for it to work properly.

tra, i remembered that you got yours done before (was it at the sister's salon in midtown?) what did you do to the area to prepare it b4 u got waxed and what did you do immediately afterwards and for a week later. Just trying to get it right b/c i want to keep this up.

i've been getting full body waxes on and off for 4 yrs now. i'm used to it and although it sometimes stings a little, it's not painful like it was the very first time. the more consistent i am, the less it bothers me. the salon i use is across the street from my house. the reason i'm not consistent is because every few months they lose the people i fall in love with, and yes, the person waxing & their method matters 100%. recently my place raised their prices from $35 for full leg to $50, along with other body parts. $35 is the standard rate in my area. now i'm either challenged to learn how to efficiently do it myself or find a new person. sigh:(. i've never had a brazilian wax. it was hard enough finally finding a person who finally had a method of bikini waxing that left me stunned to have barely felt anything at all. I even did it myself in October using that method, although it took me 2 hours!
i did read in an article (i believe i saved it in my file) about a hot spot in soho that does every wax you would want in record time. they're known for being the lunch time brazilian hot spot. i'll try to find the article. if anyone is interested, PM me.

Sorry to sound ignorant but what is a brazilian wax?

Like a bikini wax but they remove ALL of the hair from the area. Yes . All of it. http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

no - a bikini wax is nowhere near the same deal. http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif it's the same idea, but it's less hair you're taking off, and in different, less sensitive areas. If you haven't had one and want to try, don't think a description of a Brazilian is the same - it's not. http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
It's still not like getting a full body massage and being fed strawberries http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif but it's not nearly as uncomfortable.

ha ha ha ha ok Tracy thanks for reassuring(sp?) me. When I do get a bikini wax I'll let u know how it went and if I cried loool. By the way you say for a bikini wax hair is taken in less sensitive areas, where exactly? (without trying to get too graphic answers)

Just wherever your hair would overgrow your bikini....so if you are planning to get one because you'll be in a bathing suit, bring the bottom. They basically wax off any hair they can see (plus about a centimeter more all around so that you can have some freedom to move around without any peeking out).

some place called. . .hmm, i dont remember. the corner of 14th and 6th in manhattan. just a random place.
the worst part, IMO, is the tweezing for stray hairs and ingrowns at the end. i became obsessed with ingrowns after that! http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Just so you know love - this is not part of the process when I go unless I go (which I only did once and will never do again) to a Nail salon to do one. If you go to an actuall spa they don't tweeze. They use good wax, they get it to the right temp, and they use the right technique. It all comes off. No need for tweezing.

OMG, I'm so sorry for you!
I always get a wax or do it myself, but I can't reach as well as someone else can. I have sensitve skin; the only area that I can safely use a razor is my legs.
I was going to treat myself to a brazilian after I deliver my baby and lose the excess weight, but I may reconsider.
