View Full Version : Working past the pain . . .

Hey ladies,

I am beginning to start to focus on my cardiovascular health - because I know that's essential not only for weight loss but also for good health in general. That said, I really don't have much stamina. After a few minutes of fast dancing or other aerobic activity, my instinct is to S-T-O-P at the first wince of pain. (This isn't an injury or anything by the way. This is just my unused muscles crying out in annoyance.)

Mentally, how do you push yourself past the pain? Right now that is my biggest barrier to doing more cardio and pushing myself harder.

I usually find that if I can get through 30 minutes, that the adrenaline kicks in & I want to keep going.

Take it in short burst - 6 increments of 5 minutes, or do an interval workout . I used to have a spin teacher that would say - we can do anything for 5 minutes - then we can do anything for 2 minutes. . . . and so on.
