I'm a stay at home mom for the time being and I would like to start trying to get in shape. What is the best workout tape for someone that really does very little physical activity other than housework and running behind a 20 month old.? I want to try to get in shape gradually. I am not the most coordinated person in the world so I don't think I would do well with anything with a bunch of fancy dance moves. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

My sister had gained a lot of weight and started off with the Tae Bo basic workouts, so that might be something you could consider. She really enjoyed them and although they were a challenge, they were not hard to the point where she couldn't do it.
Also, there are lots of beginner workouts out there that give great results. I have never used any of Denise Austin's tapes, but I have heard good things about it. Also, from what I understand Leslie Sansone's "Walk Away The Pounds" is a good beginning workout.
As with any workout, start out slow, push yourself to your limit, but don't overdo it. In no time you will start to see changes in your body and get stronger.

Thanks a bunch for the information! I think I'll be getting the basic TaeBo workout tape soon. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I find that the best workout would be generally incorporating workout into your daily regimen. For me, that included simply taking the stairs rather than escalators/elevators, walking to my destination rather than riding a bus 5 blocks. It really help to up my endurance and now when I would like to really exercise, it's not as hard as when I initially tried to exercise without building up my endurance.

I think Leslie Sansome's Walk Away the Pounds is a good workout to get you started. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Walk Away the Pounds is excellent for beginners. Tae Bo doesn't have dance moves and The Firm doesn't have dance moves but incorporates a step or "Fanny Lifter"

Speaking of Denise Austin, she has two shows that come on TV in the mornings, back-to-back on Lifetime. You may want to try and catch her show to see if you like her workouts before investing in her tapes. And if any of you have ever watched a Denise Austin workout, ya'll know she ain't the most coordinated person in the world either so it's a little hard to follow her only because she tends to lose the beat.
I like her workouts though. She combines aerobics with weights/strength training and yoga.
