I seem to have problems with mineral makeup. I think they make me break out. Does anyone else have this problem? I wanted to be all natural by the end of the year, but I'mhaving a hard time with the natural makeup

I've been using crush grooves

I know when I change my makeup to mineral makeup and I change my face wash I had break outs for 7 days. I am using Mary Kay Face Wash and Moisturizer and Mary Kay Mineral Pressed Powder, after the 7 days my face cleared of use my face cleared up and it is smooth now. I was told by my MK rep that this would happened so I was not surprised. Oh it is very important to clean the brushes once a week, this helps alot.

thanks, i need a little clarification. so you have to wear the makeup for 7 days straight, and then the breakouts will stop? my problem is that i only wear makeup once a week or once every other week. so does that mean my skin will continue to break out unless i wear it more consistently? my brushes are clean, so i know it's not that.

thanks for your reply :)

Yes! I had breakouts with mineral makeup and I was almost in denial because I had heard they were supposed to be better for your skin than other kinds of makeup! I'm almost relieved to know that I'm not alone. I was using Bare Escentuals. I've gone back to Mac because if I'm going to break out using makeup, I might as well use something that makes me look good. :ohwell:

Are you using a primer before you put the makeup on, so it doesn't get into our pores? That might help.

Bare minerals broke me out something fierce, but Jane Iredale doesn't at all.

I don't always were my makeup, I have been trying to wear it everyday at work, so far I will were my powder, mascara and lipgloss. But this is not alway true if I am rushing or not in the mood.

Bare Escentuals and Minerals from all the reviews seem to suck. I work Mac Mineralized Pressed Powder when I was test between Mac and Mary Kay and still broke out. MK won better color match to my skin tone.

But to answer OP answer once the breakout clear up you should be ok, but don't quote me on that.

I know this is late but I just read today that any companies that have bismuth oxychloride as an ingredient that can cause skin irritation because it is heavy on the pores, and can even cause itching immediately for some. Bare minerals has that ingredient.

I had to return the new Prescriptives mineral makeup I got. It made my face hot, itchy and it broke out in little bumps.

I'd used bare escentuals in the kinda distant past but then I lost my makeup bag in a cab and never replaced it.

Bismuith Oxychloride is in bare minerals and probably about 80% of the mineral foundations. It does itch and cause breakouts. I check the labels before I buy and make sure it doesn't contain that stuff. I use Merle Norman mineral foundation with no problems and before this I used one from "Alima". I liked the Alima I just couldn't get a perfect match for my skin withou mixing two shades and they do have a lot of different shades. I just have a hard to match complextion it seems. If you try Merle Norman and you don't like it you can return it. I've been using it for 6 mos maybe and so far so good.
I'm oily and acne prone if that helps.
