Hello am just below shoulder length for hair and been on 40mg of Roaccutane for a week. I have noticed by hair has become so dry its starting to break and it looks thinner than usual. Now am quiet worried as the rest of me is fine my Derm plans to up my dose. I need to know what you ladies did with your hair while you were on this drug and if you experianced any thinning/drying that it goes away when your course of drug is done.
Also could I still daily co-wash my hair to add mositure or is this too much strain?
Please help I finally got my hair below shoulder length because of this board and I am NOT going back.:nono:

I was warned that dryness and hair loss were possible side effects. I'm on my second course of accutane (60mg per day) and I can't say I've noticed anything-though I'm currently wearing braids. With the first course 4 years ago, I was fine. Have you considered wearing braids or some other protective style while you're on the course. Also it may help if you up your deep conditioning.

Hmm...Youre not on an overly high dose but I would reccomend most definitley making sure you are taking your fish oils (particularly EFA's) 2 capsules 2xs a day until the dryness subsides. Adding some flax (either ground or the oil capsules would be good too). The added benefit of the oils is that it will also help keep your cholesterol/lipid levels down which can be a concern when on the "tane (or Ro' in your case).

I dont see why you wouldnt be able to Co-wash...just continue being gentle as you have been and you should be good!

Good Luck!
