For those that have oily skin, what brands/form (liquid, powder, etc.) of makeup are you using and would you recommend it for others who have oily skin?

I have been using MAC, but I also have to use an mattifier, also mac. What has been a good technique for my oily skin is to tone (just started using ACV), aveno sunscreen, and then the mattifier on the T-zone, after I apply my make-up concealer only where I need it, I follow with the MAC minerals. Sometimes depending on what I am doing or feel an oil slick I reapply the mattifier. HTH!!

Pressed or loose powder, always.

Mineral makeup or oil-free powder from Prescriptives is a winner for me.

MAC is my skin's arch enemy.

1. milk of magnesia (to help with the shine)
2. Monistant Anti-Chafing Gel
3. Mary Kay Mineral Pressed Powder (I tried MAC Mineralized and it is a little too red for me.)
4. Isomers Translucent Powder (Where I have pores and dark circles, seems to help me.)

Hey Neon,
Do you use in this order ie does the Milk Of Magnesia go on after your moisturiser or before?
I've just bought some and am using it after my toner and before moisturiser. Just wanted to check if i'm doing it right.

I created a thread on this. I moisturize, then apply about a quarter size amount of the MoM.

To answer the OP: I use Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation. I went to the mall one day in search of Prescriptives. There was no one at the counter so I tried Estee Lauder. She apply ALOT to my face and it felt heavy. I proceeded to drive to another mall and went to Prescriptives. I had the MA remove the makeup on one side of my face, so I could compare the two. Overall, the overwhelming response from several makeup artists in Nordstrom was that the Double Wear was the best hands down. Even the Prescriptives MA's were telling me that. One MA from Clinique was telling me that, too, so I know they were being honest. I went outside and the Estee Lauder was more realistic. The coverage is medium and it lasts pretty much the whole day. I just set with a translucent powder. I think the MA just applied a lot of makeup to my face, but you really cannot feel it on your face. This makeup has lasted me in sweaty nights in the club. I went to the bathroom and my makeup was so fresh. So...I really like it. :lick:

You know what never thought about it, but I have been putting in on after the moisturizer, let it set until it dries and then I put the monistat gel on and apply my powder. But in a word "yes" I do, apply in this order.

What powder if any do you use with the Estee Lauder foundation? I am trying to find a summer foundation for my oily skin.

ETA Which formula are you using the powder or liquid? Thanks

Use a translucent powder like Coco and I this helps alot. I use Isomers Translucent but any good translucent works and there is not color match to deal with.

Thanks I did a search for the Isomer powder earlier when I saw your post. Where did you purchase yours. Its sold out on MSN. This is a good idea because I don't have to worry about matching. I am assuming the powder is not ashy looking. Can the powder be worn alone without being ashy, I sometimes have trouble with translucent powder being brown.

I use Sally Hansen Translucent powder. It works well right now. It contains a puff, but I don't use it because it gets dirty easily. I use a makeup brush with soft hairs to distribute the powder. The formula is colorless and unless I put a lot on, it is true to its name. The best thing of all is that it can be purchased at any drug store. It has a navy blue top and is a square shaped container. I use the loose powder, not the pressed powder.

I use Bobbi Brown but since the LA peels, I am noticing I need something else. I will try Estee Lauder based on your post. However, once my face stabilizes, I am going back to Bobbi Brown...love it, love it, just love it.

I just found out that Estee Lauder has come out with a new Double Wear Light foundation. I haven't tried it yet, but I guess it gives lighter coverage and may be better for the summer months. Until it gets really humid I will stick to the regular formula. I know that hands down for the colder months, this is the best foundation that I have tried. I will go to the counter and test the light foundation though. I did notice that when I used the EL moisturizer (the name escapes me right now), my foundation did wear better. It lasted so much longer. I may have to go back to it. The only caveat is that it cost $38, which I was not comfortable paying at the time. I think a lot of my problems with oil had to do with the moisturizer. I currently use Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturizer SPF 15 and I think that it is contributing to my mid-day shine. I might have to go back to EL.

For all the ladies looking to try the Estee Lauder... as with any foundation, make sure you go outside with a mirror and see how it looks. You can end up looking ghoulish if you pick too light of a shade. That's one thing that I noticed, so I used a sample in a darker shade and mixed it. HTH.
