Fashion Spotlight: Ingwa Melero

So I'm trying to expand my closet - not only in what I wear but WHO I wear. I'm not talking about chasing labels but expanding what I know about fashion - it's actually kinda fun. My good friend is a fashion journalist and is constantly sending me information about designers I've never heard of.

For me, I used to think of fashion in blocks:
- Throw Away Fashion: Forever 21 etc - and by Throw Away I simply mean that you're not using this store to build staple items, simply because the quality is not there
- Department Store Fashion: Your Macy's, Nordstrom, Lord & Taylor, Bloomingdales (I don't include Saks and Neimans in Department Store Fashion)
- Trendy Fashion: Bebe, Banana Republic (while not trendy, their use of colors do tend to change a bit from season to season and year to year), Express, Limited etc.
- High End Fashion: Italian, French and American designers typically only sold in boutique stores. Basically folks who use their last names to sell clothes (Prada, Gucci, Dior) and folks on their level (Miu Miu, Stella McCartney), Proenza Schuler, Marc Jacobs etc.
- Pseudo High Fashion: Everything just below the high end fashion. Stuff like Max Mara, Herve Leger, Tara Jordan etc.

But what about everything else? What about those budding designers who make great clothes with decent quality at a fraction of the price of the high end stuff, but just above the Trendy Fashion.
