I just got mine today and I'm anxious to start using it. However, the instruction booklet says that 1-2 weeks before using the peel, I should use a mild AHA cleasner (I have Alpha Hydrox Nourishing Cleanser) to prep the skin for maximum results/benefits. I ordered the 30% lactic acid peel and I'm curious about the healing time for the process. For any of you ladies that used this type of peel, did you notice any scabbing or major peeling? And if so, how long did it last? I'm going to follow directions and start using my AHA cleanser again before I apply the peel. I just want to know how long the peeling (if any) lasts.

I use the 40% from makeup artist choice. I don't remember any instructions about using AHA, so I can't help you there. I did remember to use a soap free cleanser before using (not weeks before, but on the day of application).
My skin peeled slightly, but not enough to have to take off work or be hidden from the world. I just made sure to up the moisturizer (I used Emu oil) and sunblock. Since this is your 1st time using it, you may want to do it on a Friday night, that way if you do have any peeling, it should minimize by Monday (if you work or go to school).

Thanks honey! I'm more concerned about peeling than anything else. I started out with the 30% so that I can see if it's gentle enough on my skin.

I will, and I would like updates on how yours turns out too. I'm going to follow the instructions on it before I begin the peel, so I won't be doing the actual peel until 2 weeks from now.

OT: JLove, you love lovely!! :yep: I hadn't really seen you around these parts lately so I'm glad to see you posting again. I also like your blog. I might try those natural products you suggested (I always see them at Whole Foods).
For those of you who are using lactic peels, please keep me posted. I really want to try this but I'm kind of scared.

You look great Jlove! I have a microdermabrasion treatment done every few months. How are you alternating the peel and microderm treatments?

Thanks ladies, you guys are too kind:blush:
I do the lactic acid peels at home. So my schedule goes like this:
The 1st week of every month - microdermabrasion and gylcolic peel at the derms office
The 2nd & 3rd week of every month - lactic acid peel at home.
The 4th week - rest

I use the lactic acid 40% peel from makeupartistchoice. I don't have any scabbing or anything like that. I find lactic acid to be a very mild peel.

That's good to know. However, I do realize that everyone's skin is different, so I'm just trying to get as much info as I can before putting that stuff on my face. I'm hoping to achieve the results JLove has gotten, her skin is beautiful!! I don't have terrible skin, but who doesn't want better skin?!

I ordered the 55% lactic acid peel from MUAC today. I can't wait to try it; I've seen so many great reviews on MUA.

Dumb Question alert: Is the Lactic Peel to help with even skin tone and chemically peeling dark spots (similar to a dermatologists' chemical peel)?

Yeah, I'd like to know the about the dark spots too.
Also,
Jlove,
I see that you do the microdermabrasion & glycolic peel, what order do you have those done & why glycolic acid versus another acid?
Do you use the peels on other parts of your body other than your face? I need to even/smooth out the skin on my legs and feet, ugh.
Thanks!

The dermatologist or her assistant does the microdermabrasion 1st and then the peel. She does glycolic in the office, because it's a high percentage that can only be applied by a medical profession. The derm, actually told me to do the lactic peels at home to maintain.
I've never used them on any other places on my body, but you can. I'm thinking about to getting my upper back done. Have a few spots that I want GONE by the summer!

exactly. For home chemical peels, most dermatologist recommend lactic, because it's best for all skin tones and types. Glycolic can be harsh if not done properly.

I use the 55% once a week.
Me too.
Im approaching my 5th week and so far so good.
My skin appears much smoother and glowy.
My dark spots are lightening a tad,not as much as I want though.
The instructions I rcv'd states for best results it takes 6 to 8 weeks.
I have the 55% from MUAC.
I think this may be a permanent fixture in my skin care routine... :yep:

My skin has been doing VERY well since I started the lactic peels and using the face brush. Exfoliation exfoliation exfoliation! I should publish my own case study. :look:
