Has anyone here been a member of Overeaters Anonymous. I went to a meeting yesterday and I am quite encouraged. The rule of thumb is that you should attend 6 meetings before deciding whether to join. So, I plan to attend another meeting tonight.

I am still on WW (for now), but I know that the depth of my problem really requires treatment as an addiction. So, I'm just wondering if anyone here has any advice and would be willing to share?

(As OA is anonymous feel free just to PM me instead of posting on the board.)

Thanks!

Glib

My mom did OA years ago and lost a bunch of weight. I was really young back then, but I remember loosing weight as well because I had to eat what she ate :lachen:If you enjoy the meetings I say go for it, Glib!

I've been a member of some other ED support groups that were helpful in the past and I've been to some that were TERRIBLE (*cough* food addicts anonymous *cough cough*) and I've been really wanting to try OA for the past coupla years but have never went.

They have one at a church that is, literally, across the street from me and I still haven't gone. I'm really really considering going this weekend.

Congrats on your first meeting!:yep: I'm glad you liked it.

Thanks guys. I plan to go to another meeting tonight. It's interesting, though, today at Weight Watchers, I felt more empowered for having gone to OA . . . so maybe I will do both . . . we shall see . . . .
