Ear Itches Like CRAZY!!!!!!!

Why does my ear itch like crazy??? Inside? Sometimes it itches so bad, I scratch really hard and....yeah, not a good combination. Is it allergies? An infection? Someone help...before I scratch my ear off!!!!!

hi,, maybe i can help.... i wore earplugs to sleep for a couple of yrs becuz of noise,, well this lead to itching which led to scratching and what comes next wasnt pretty.... i had chronic otitis externa ( google it LOL) ,, i started washing my ears thinking that would help,, and that turned into a nasty bacterial infection ( otitis externa) which led to me not having any ear wax and dry flaky ears and more bacterial infection and finally fungal infection up to last sept,,,, finally after having to go to ER from pain,, they couldnt even help me ,, so i went to my ent,,,, finally i quit the DAMNED earplugs and my ears are in tip top shape,,, after years of infections and flaky itchy ears,, ....... my suggestion is go to an ear nose and throat specialist and DONT SCRATCH,, that can cause a tear that will lead to a nasty infection particularly if you wet your ears... there lol,, i am an itchy ear torture specialist,, i literally went thru years of it...

My first guess is allergies. Do you also notice any post-nasal drip, itchy watery eyes, irritated throat, or frequent sneezing?

co-sign...allergies. i was just going thru that and thats what my doctor said it was.
in the past though when my ears itched like crazy, i was getting an ear infection but thinking back, i could have caused it by scratching them like KRAZEE!!!!:ohwell:

It might be your throat that is itching and not your ears... but because of their close proxmity it feels like your ears. Could be allergies like the others said.

Do you have a dry skin condition? When my execema flares up my ears and hairline itch like crazy too.

Ladies, idk what it could be!!!!

I don't really have any allergy symptoms right now, but I do get them sometimes (runny nose, watery eyes, all my throat sounds like it's going hoarse but I don't have a sore throat or anything.). I've never been diagnosed as having allergies either.

I do get dry skin and sometimes I notice dry skin patches in my ear.

Idk what it could be....all these things sound like they could be it! Thanks for the responses...:sad:

try claritin or the allergy medicine that you normally use and see what happens. If this does not work after a few days then go and see a doctor.
