thanks, ladies...:yep:
-----------------------------------------------
CHYAWANPRASH -is a multi-mineral, multi-vitamin herbal supplement that both rejuvenates and stimulates the body's immune system. It is primarily made from a fruit called amalaki, which is known as the most potent form of natural vitamin C in the world. Amalaki is combined with 30 Ayurvedic herbs, and cooked for two days to potentiate the active ingredients in Chyawanprash. Traditionally this combination is used as an anti-aging, anti-stress medicine, but it is an incredibly effective daily preventive for colds, stress, and exhaustion. It stimulates the lymphatic system to drain, while providing powerful antioxidant properties that work very well in preventing a cold. Chyawanprash is considered more of a food supplement than a medicine, although its medicinal properties are phenomenal. It is traditionally taken as a spread on crackers and can be eaten as a snack.

I have a big container of it in my fridge. I make a tea from it on occasion or add it to my Kitchen Sink smoothies.
The taste reminds me of apple butter. I must admit, the physical appearance of it made me hesitant about putting it in my mouth. So I was pleasantly surprised.
I haven't used it often regularly enough to report on any results, benefits, reactions, etc. It's loaded with so much beneficial stuff, I just had to have it.

I took this for a few months some time ago consistenly. I didn't notice anything different but I liked the taste. Reminded me of coca cola. I bought some more a few weeks ago and I'm going to add it to my daily regimen. Thanks for reminding me!

This is great stuff. I take a lot of ayurvedic supplements and this is the one that is the constant. It boosts my immune system. I've been on it for years.

I take it. It was recommended (along with some other things and lifestyle changes) for some vata related problems I was having. Every day, I eat a teaspoon of the organic Chyavanprash made by Banyan, but it's a bit on the expensive side. I've noticed there are different formulations for Chyavanprash. I'm not sure if one is better than the other.

Hey J,
I don't know that it needs to be stored in the fridge. As a matter of fact, I checked the label and it simply says, Store in a cool, dry place.
Mine is from Dabur and it couldn't have been expensive (like Cichelle's) because I wouldn't have bought it on impulse. LOL!
I would say, let's share ingredients, but this is a looooong list. It starts with Amla, sugar, honey, clarified butter, long pepper, sesame oil....and ends with blue water lily, maluabar nut, liquorice, ice plant, sandalwood, clove, chinese cinnamon, indian rose chestnut and potassium sorbate as a preservative.
Makes me want to slap it on my scalp...or my face..:look:

eta: I wish I had some almond milk. Only soy in the house. I'm warming that now with a heaping tablespoon of Chya.
eta: Okay, with some brisk whisking, I have a delicious warm beverage with a nice thick foamy froth on top. This is really a scrumptious way to enjoy it. Tastes very similar to chai. I could bring this to work as an alternative to tea. I'd get a bit more pleasure out of it...or an evening beverage.

Yup, that's the link. I'm super particular about things I ingest because of something that occurred in my past. So this is the only brand I feel I can trust right now. I'm a bit :spinning: like that.
The one you bought seems good, though. Please let us know how you like it and if you feel it helps you. Then maybe I can add another trusted one onto my short list. :look:

I take it in a two part pill form because it's easier and I purchase it from mapi.com. I don't use every supplement I have all year long. Ashwagandha is the only one that I take daily.
I take a hair, skin and nails blend, a cleanser called elimtox-O just before I have a colonic series which I do twice a year. They make a great one for respiratory illnesses that you take before the flu season and it's amazing.
I find the ayurvedic products to be very gentle and calming in general.
I made the mistake of getting a flu shot 7 years ago and I lost my sense of smell and taste for 2 years! So needless to say I stick to the natural/organic lines of prevention/immune boosting.

Interesting. I am on a DYI streak and I am thinking of getting Amla powder from the health food store (not WholePayCheck :nono:), and I'll add to it honey, ghee, pepper, sesame oil, clove, cinnamon and maybe some ground flaxseeds. I have tried taking Amla powder straight with water and it was yuck...

Today, I tried to make my own Chyawanprash, and even though I added some honey, the result was NOT :lick:
They must be adding tons of honey and sweetener to Amla to make it palatable. That stuff is strong!!! I don't want to add too much honey or sweets because it will defeat the purpose of the Vit C in amla. I'll buy some stevia tomorrow and add it to see if it tastes better.
