I used to work out thirty minutes every morning but since September when my daughter started school it has been harder to do it in. For a long time I wasn't working out at all. I recently picked it up again at the end of last month but I just work out for two to three hours in the middle of the day at the gym at work once a week. I know it is best to work out a little each day but is working out all at once instead of each day taking away from anything?
I think you will probably benefit from working out more often than just once a week for a long time. The reason I say this is because you can't store up exercise. For instance, you eat everday, you don't wait until wednesdays and eat all you need for the entire week. So why would you do that same thing to your body? Does my analogy make sense? I don't know but I'm thinking that it would probably be better for your body to workout more often.
Sorry I forgot to add this in my first post.... but working out daily is going to give your metabolism an extra boost. Working out once a week isn't going to give you that daily boost.

HoneyRockette,
Have you considered walking during your lunch breaks? Of course, I do not know whether this is feasible for you but it will help you to get some form of exercise in Monday thru Friday. Also, consider working out on the weekend too if you can only go one day during the week. At least this way you get 3 workouts weekly instead of only 1.

I rarely take lunch but it is about twenty degrees in New York City right now anyway. And I work on weekends too. Actually I was wondering if there are any small exercises I could do that don't need to be done for thirty minutes each day. For instance right after I had my son I used to do fifty crunches in the bed every night to get my stomach back down. I gradually increased it by ten or so and then by the time summer rolled around, I had my tight abs back. I can't think of any other exercises that I could do like that. Are there any quick arm exercises? I want to bulk my arms up for when I get my tattoo, (practicing for my mid life crisis- it'll look cool while I am riding my Harley).
