I had been on meds that made me gain 39 pounds. I went from 120 to 159. Well i lost 21 pounds. But my face is round now. So i hired a personal trainer so my face can be small and i can be 120 again. Because i was really pretty before. But you have to dish out some serious money for a PT. Do you ladies think its worth the money would you pay for one. Because i say you cant put a price tag on confidence.

If it's going to put you into debt or make you unable to afford things you really need then I wouldn't do it.
There's a lot of great resources online. Like Sparkpeople.com. It's like a nutritionist and trainer. They give you meal ideas and exercises to complete for the day based on your goals.
If you can lose 21lbs without the trainer I'm sure if you keep it up you'll be able to lose whatever weight you wanted.
It's not like you an just spot reduce and lose fat from your face..

What do you mean pretty before??? You look the same (minus the head scarf LOL) You are quite beautiful now.
I've never seen what's the big deal with personal trainers. Some people love them but I'm the type that perfers to work out alone, and I'm cheap. Why should I pay you to tell me what to do when I can buy a book and read it for myself?
I recommend a Turbo Jam DVD, Chalene is the best personal trainer I've ever had:yep:

The good news is that your still pretty, and if your trying to loose weight then you could do that own your own with some small changes, without paying anyone because you don't have that far to go. You have already identified the source of the problem so I suspect you are making adjustments in that area. Really I think you are closer than you may realize..:yep:

You can teach yourself all of the same techniques and tricks that a trainer can. My favorite magazine in the world is WOMENS HEALTH. I love it. It gives you great nutritional advice and every issue has dozens of exercises and training tips, most of which you can do at home. Just make sure that you are eating a healthy diet, and mixing strength training with cardio and deep stretching.

Nothing beats personal training. The motivation that they give you is priceless. I wouldn't do half of the things I do with my trainer on my own.
My personal trainer is a sis and this girl is awesome!!
NO comparison to looking at a video and having a professional coach you. NO comparison!!
You'll see results much quicker
As long as I can afford it, I will do personal training :yep:

i agree with the other women who say you still look pretty. but of course, i can understand you wanting to lose weight so you feel more secure in your own skin.
personally, i think PT's can be quite over-rated. i've heard a ton of info regarding how some of them really don't know what they're doing. as far as i'm aware there isn't a universal standard that they all have to meet in order to class themselves as a personal trainers. they can go on a basic course and voila: they're charging you $$$ an hour to run around a park and use gym equipment. if you need that structure and an "authority" figure to keep you accountable plus you have the funds, first research a good trainer and hire one. i've seen PT's on forums talking about how their clients aren't losing weight or inches, they ask: "what am i doing wrong??" lame.
otherwise, i think you managing to lose 21lbs seemingly by yourself shows you already have it in you to achieve your goals without someone holding your hand (no offence to anyone who uses one but imo, i think this is what trainers essentially do...it's no bad thing for the most part). maybe the question is do you believe you can push yourself that extra bit further to achieve what you want without someone there doing the pushing for you? imo, you can.
weight loss isn't easy but it's essentially simple in that cardio and weights plus a healthy diet which has a calorie deficient will mean you lose weight. you can do this by devising your own programme. there are an abundance of resources on the 'net advising you how to for free. if you need any good starting points to websites, then let me know. or you could get a good magazine like another poster suggested.

A good personal trainer will do much more than just hold your hand. :yep: They'll teach you form (are you sure you're lifting those dumbbells right?), different excercises (the many ways to tone those arms), endurance (would you really run as fast by yourself?), etc.
You are right in that you do have to choose wisely. I had a PT a few years ago who sucked. He was young, didn't seem committed to my sessions and was easily distracted.
The PT I have now is wonderful! I go to a top notch gym and they have not notch trainers. In all of my years of working out, I am finally seeing the results in spite of eating everything under the sun. I owe it all to my PT's guidance and i just purchased another 10 sessions :).
Go ahead and treat yourself!

I agree they keep you motivated. So even though it may cost and arm and a leg i think I am going to stick with it. Thanks ladies for all of your responses I really do appreciate it.:wink2:
Are you currently on the same medicine? That is quite a big change in weight. Have you tried alternatives to the medicine? The personal trainer would keep you focused and motivated but the medicine will just counter your efforts. Just a thought. Overall, I'd say go for it. New Year, new You!

I think that a personal trainer could be NICE if you could afford it. If you consider their rates an "arm and a leg", then chances are you cannot afford it. When shopping, I ask myself, if money is the first determinent if I should get a product, then I can't afford it. I am sorry for sounding harsh, but it is free to lose weight, free to research it and definitely free to train yourself.
I just don't want you spending beyond your means because in truth you CANNOT go dry pockets over great reviews.
Sorry if that seems mean.

No not at all. It wont clean me out completely but it will take most of my money. Id have like 100 or less left every month. But thats why i want to do an intense work out and do the recommended three times a week because i only have 18 pounds to lose. So it shouldnt take me long.

I don't think that's true. I take potentially weight gaining meds and that's more reason to exercise and stay fit. :)

Off topic, you have really beautiful skin, what's your secret?
I think it would be a great idea to hire a trainer, if you can afford it. Like you mentioned you can't place a price tag on confidence. I believe in paying for things that are going to improve us as people. I do believe that you can do all those things on your own but the motivation from a great tariner is priceless (many of us want to do it on our own but we DON'T:rolleyes:). I had a trainer for 3-4 months, lost all the weight and never looked back. I am thinking about hiring another trainer for one week to teach me some moves, cause I want a ripped body, killer legs.:yep:

Personally I think you are pretty before and after but I can understand where you are coming from. I say if it will make you achieve your goal then go for it lady. Price shouldnt be a factor in it at all unless you need the extra cash. Umm I never thought about a personal trainer for myself but this thread has motivated me to find one when I go home for good. Thanks for posting!

Well, then, I definitely say go for it! And whatever the cost. . . remember you're worth it!

Thanks for the encouragement. You all have motivated me to keep going. Because losing weight is so hard. Because you want to be your ideal self overnight and it takes a lot of time, endurance, and drive to exercise so you kind of get discouraged sometimes. But the Biggest Loser is so motivating to me that was my inspiration to hire a personal trainer.
