My body is begining to confuse me. Okay for starters I am on the pill. I am on week 2 of the pack as in I have one more whole week before my period.
So why am I having cramps now? I don't mean little cramps either I am really hurting and I don't have cramps during my period. The cramps have been happening since Monday.
My last serious bout of cramps was in the 8th grade and I am twenty now.
I really don't know what is wrong but I am open to reasonable suggestions?

I quite sure you already know this but see a doctor asap.. It could be something serious or not so serious. Your body is trying to tell you something. Hope everything works out ok.

It could be ovulation or your body adjusting to the pill (if you haven't been on them that long). They could also be your period trying to come on if you have skipped pills. It could be pregnancy (if you are having sex) because pills aren't 100% effective. Especially ectopic which I think is more common if you are on the pill and get preggo (the pain is usually to one side, though). I guess to make a long story short, it could be a number of things and you really should go to the doc.

I have not gone to the doctor because the on campus one is a moron. The pain has gotten less and I have a bit of bleeding.
Realuv:What you are suggesting is scarying me. I have been on the pill since last year so that most likely isn't it. I had my period on time last month so pregnancy isn't it. Eggs are not released while on the pill so it is not ovulation. The women in my family have a history of fibroids so maybe I should have that option checked into.

The bleeding has stopped and the cramps have just about gone away. I have not missed any pills and I have been very concietious about taking them at the same time. I will bring it up at my next doctor appointment or if it happens again.

I have had problems like this while on the pill. I always thought I was ovulating too. This would happen about 2 weeks before it was time for my period. Even now, I still have some break through bleeding while on the pill. I sometimes start my cycle before I have finished the pack.

This is the first time this has ever happened to me. I am going to wait until my period is over (I have reached those pills) and if I am still having trouble I am going to the doctor.

I have gotten pregnant on the pill twice. the last time (last year) turned out to be ectopic. I experience Mittleshmirtz which is ovulatory pain so I know every time I ovulate. It can come from both sides because pre ovulatory, both sides are racing to produce an egg and the swelling of ovarian follicles can cause tenderness on both sides. once a particular side bursts and egg the other shuts down but not always. this is when you can end up with fraturnal twins because an egg was released from both sides (or 2 eggs from one side, either way ya got two eggs) because it was too close to ripening to stop production. also be aware that unripened eggs can form into cysts and can be painful or annoying as they slowly dissolve. I have polycystic ovarian syndrom and I get cysts all the time from unruptured ovarian activity. pill or no pill. I've ran to the emergency room 4 times in horrible pain so far and it turned out to be my ovarian cysts acting up. also remember if you did ovulate, the site that the egg erupted from automaticallyforms a cyst designed to produce hormones to support a baby just in case. this happens whether you get pregnant or not and can be annoying. it fades or dissolves if no pregnancy takes place.dont make the mistake of thinking the pill is 100% cause I did twice!
the pills I am currently taking cause me to have breast tenderness and ovarian pain and uterine cramps 2 wks before my period is due also but because you mentioned bleeding I'm more inclined to think you had a breakthru ovulation which happens more than people think. (did you know the pill looses a percentage of its effectiveness if you are over 150 pounds because its only formulated for that body weight? the more you weigh over that figure the less effective it is) it is very common to bleed with ovulation and the bleeding is actually from the cyst site that travels down the unterine cavity and out the canal. As I said, I've been thru this quite a few times and once had it so bad I ran to the doc. they did an ultrasound, showed me my ovary which looked like a chocolate chip cookie and warned me to avoid sex even though I was on the pill because I had ovulated. this also happend with my 1st. son. in that case I was trying to get pregnant and they told me to go home and have sex and voila! Don't panic too much. though annoying cysts are relatively harmless. they do sometimes bleed when ruptured and the fluids and swelling cause tenderness and pinching but its nothing life threatening. Have your doc check you for pcos. its more common then people think.

Thanks for the information. Today I have started a new pack and the bleeding stopped 3 days ago although I was still on the placebo. I hope it doesn't happen again and I will ask the doctor about pcos.
