I've been having a small cup of straight coffee to give me a boost for my morning workouts. I make sure to eat a fruit and drink water too. Is that bad???

There are so many sources aabout coffee--pros and cons. I believe moderation is the key.

I love having a freshly brewed, steaming cup of coffee in the morning. It feels so good, smells good too. The main thing I have learned is to drink an extra glass of water for every cup of coffee, since it is a diuretic. Coffee in itself is actually a food as well as a stimulant and in moderation, it is okay. Personally, I drink one cup in the morning and if I have a taste for more, I will drink decaf instead. :)

I'm like Isis: love a freshly brewed cup of coffee and I've got to have at least one cup a day or I'll get a headache - and as with everything else, I find as long as I do it in moderation, I'm OK. I never drink decaf though as it gives me a headache without fail! Caffeine free teas don't give me a headache though. Go figure. (And it's not all in the mind, about the decaf. I found out one time by chance. I drank coffee I didn't know was decaf and got a splitting headache. I worried that I might have to give up coffee thinking caffeine was now a migraine-inducer for me. Then the lady said it was decaf. Then another day, trying to go caffeine-free, I tried decaf again. Immediately my head started throbbing. :look: )

Just wanted to add, for anyone who doesn't like coffee, an apple first thing in the morning can give the same boost as coffee. ;)

I alway have a cup before I workout. It gives me the needed boost to increase the intensity in my workouts. :yep:

But I also am a big coffee fan.

If you cut me, I'd bleed coffee. I think you're fine with your AM boost.

Thanks everyone! I thought I was just crazy:grin: I will continue to drink my coffee to boost my workouts, but in moderation. And I'll make sure I drink lots of water too.
