I joined the biggest loser contest at work. I've met my goal. I need to lose 8 lbs to win. I want to lose 10-12 just in case.
Do any of you know a lean out plan/boot camp etc. to drop the weight fast?
I have one week. I plan on going to the gym at least 2x a day.

^^ LOL @ "catch the flu".
imo, weight loss shouldn't be rushed. you will do some serious damage to your body for the sake of the competition "just in case". :nono: the majority of the loss will be from your muscle mass which will mean your metabolism will slow down. when this happens, the rate at which your body burns calories decreases and you make it much easier for your body to store them as fat.
so not only could you end up re-gaining the weight and being fatter than you were before, should you decided to lose that weight again it will be so much harder. with all the info on how dangerous rushed weight-loss is now, i have to ask if you're blind-sided by this competition and your short-term "gains" (i.e- winning the competition) instead of realising that this is one of the worst decision you can ever make for your body. the fact that you say you've reached your "goal" weight yet want to lose a substantial amount more and have plans of working out 2x a day says you may have become obsessive about this.
btw, although the contestants on biggest loser lost a lot of weight in a short period of time, this is unrealistic and ultimately cannot be maintained. many of those contestants have gone on to re-gain the weight they lost. had they lost weight steadily, they'd have had a much much better time of maintaining their weight. feel free to read up on biggest loser and fast weight gain/loss here (http://www.realityblurred.com/realitytv/archives/the_biggest_loser_4/2007_Oct_19_diet_risks_demoralizes) and here (http://www.diet-blog.com/archives/2007/07/04/the_biggest_loser_where_are_they_now.php).
good luck to you...

yeah i think your body will be releasing water weight anyhow...
Even if you drink a lot of water, you wont be eating enough minerals and sodium to hold on to the water. (i think I worded that correctly)
If you eat too much sodium, your body will retain water to keep a balance, too little sodium your body will release water to keep a balance.
An drinking a buch of plain water with no minerals is not easily absorb, mineral help absorb water (somebody correct me if I'm wrong)

ITA!!! please think about your long-term overall health! Rapid, forced weight loss is so unhealthy. It puts undo stress on the heart, causing tiny rips in the heart muscle that cannot be repaired.:nono: Good luck with your goals!

I have always heard that you gain back weight that you lose quickly but this has not been my experience. I have lost 1-2lbs in a week but always gained it back. I've lost 8lbs in a week and never gained it back. I lost 20 lbs in a couple of weeks and never gained it back. After I had my daughter many years ago, I was back in my pre-pregnancy clothes a few weeks later and stayed that way for years.
So my experience has been the opposite. That goes for gaining weight as well. The doctor was concerned that I wasn't gaining any weight and put me on a diet to gain a pound or two in a week when I expecting. I ended up gaining 20lbs and continued to gain. Of course they didn't understand it.
And because I will train with weights, I will gain muscle. Even if I lose a little, it will balance out.

you being able to not gain the weight back could be due to a whole host of factors, none of which i know since you have not provided 1) your calorie intake around that time 2) how much exercise you were doing 3) how many calories you were burning if you were exercising. without any of this knowledge, i'm still going to have to say for most people gaining weight after they crash diet is very typical.
whether you kept off or gained the weight back is actually less important than the long term health risk of doing such drastic diets. do we see the changes occurring inside our bodies during this time? no, we do not. it is usually not until we see some solid proof that something is wrong that we realise that we have a problem. otherwise, it goes undetected. additionally, whilst we may not see it immediately, these things can present themselves a few years later after they've had time to manifest. rapid weight loss and lack of calories has been linked to osteoporosis. do people see this when they initially lose weight quickly? nope. but best believe, at a later point this problem is made evident to them and they suffer for it.
now, having been through yo-yo dieting and fad diets myself, my personal experience tells me that fast weight loss is never the right path to take for a whole host a reasons. this is backed up by reading many, many accounts of people who have dealt with the repercussions of rapid weight loss, medical articles and information from nutrition and fitness experts.
ultimately, one has to ask themselves is it better to lose weight at a slower rate but without the risk of hair loss, osteoporosis, decreased metabolism, heart failure, heart palpitations etc or to choose their vanity over their health and embark on a fast weight loss option. both options produce one result that is the same - weight loss - but exclusive to one option is the fact that it exposes you to a whole host of health problems and has even been responsible for deaths.
by the way, you are misinformed about gaining muscle. you cannot lose weight and gain muscle at the same time. over-exercising and eating few calories will result in weight loss and a good proportion of this will likely be muscle. the reason why some people gain weight when trying to lose if they have incorporated weights is because their bodies are building muscle during that time. however, at another point in time, they will lose because their body has switched functions and is dropping weight. losing weight and gaining muscle does not happen simultaneously. with the path you appear to be on (or are trying to get on) you will most likely be losing muscle and your body will not be able to gain any. additionally, at rate at which one loses muscle by crash dieting is much more than if they did it healthily. imo, you are not "offsetting" anything...this is a faulty logic to have.
but whatever the advice given here, you will ultimately just do you. i can only hope whatever you choose to do will truly serve you in the short-term as well as the long-term.

I'm sorry I'm feeling too lazy to read all the other responses so I apologize if I'm echoing anyone. I know any time you start a weight-loss program, you tend to lose more in the first week anyway because you lose a lot of water weight. Then the weight loss steadies.
I have already raved a lot about the cabbage soup diet. To me it's healthier than any other fad diet I've heard of that gives fast results. Not only do you lose a lot of weight but your fat burning just hits a high. Whenever I've done the diet, I haven't just lost weight (I don't usually weigh myself most times anyway), but I've lost inches and toned up. Now when you lose water weight, your body may feel flabby. I don't get that with the CSD. Instead, my body tones up. If I add some exercising to that, I get solid and trim. But you must not do the diet for more than 7 days. You can make the soup tasty by adding spices (I love cilantro or curry in mine), bouillon cubes, etc. The secret to losing the weight is eating as much of the soup as possible. So you're never hungry. And the more of the soup you consume, the more you boost your metabolism so the more fat you burn.
I do not puree mine. I eat the veggie chunks in whatever shape they are in after it's cooked. I think the fact that chunks of veggies have to be broken down means it stays in my tummy a little longer than a puree might. So make a lot of the soup. I usually make several batches during the course of the week because I cannot get enough of it. It tastes soooo good. Even my coworkers have asked for some coz of how good it smells. And it isn't a boring diet: besides the soup, every day there's a different food that you're to have with the soup. Every kind of fruit you want except bananas on Day 1 for instance, and all the soup you can consume. Day 2 is salad day...and so on. So you can't get bored. And you detox. And your skin gets brighter. And you feel so alive. And you have later days to look forward to when rice and meat are introduced. Every day it gets better...till day 7. And you're guaranteed to lose 7-14 lbs (You'll have to double check the exact amounts). For anyone who feels they've reached a plateau in their weight loss program, or anyone considering starting one, nothing gives a boost like the CSD. And think of how much good all those veggies will do for your body as whole; skin, digestion, etc.
For all the info about the CSD, including recipe and the complete program, check out the website: www.cabbage-soup-diet.com (http://www.cabbage-soup-diet.com)
After the week of CSD, continue eating right and working out and you will continue to lose weight. The way you feel after that week will make you not want to ruin your progress. Plus think of how clean your body will be and avoid junk. Good luck!

I never said I wanted to crash diet or eat few calories. I wanted tips for losing about 10 lbs in a week. I don't have any problem gaining muscle. Regardless of whether you think my logic is faulty or not, I tend to put on muscle very quickly, which is why I don't lift much. My arms are defined and I haven't been lifting. Just dancing 1-3 times per week if that. My waist is smaller and I have done a lot of waist exercises. I lose weight evenly. And the weight that I've lost thus far is with what I consider minimal effort.
I didn't say what my current routine is because I wanted suggestions. I was then going to post what I've come up with for the lean out section of the competion.

my definition of crash dieting is losing a lot of weight in a very short period of time. i've not known anybody to lose 10lbs eating 1, 200 cals+ in 7 days unless they were morbidly obese. if you are at "goal weight" (to quote your opening post), one can only assume you are not morbidly obese. generally speaking, losing 10lbs in 7 days is typically done by not eating enough calories, usually coupled with over-exercising. as 80% of losing weight is diet so it's extremely difficult to lose 10lbs just working out in such little time so most people tend to drastically cut their calorie intake. during the cabbage soup diet (http://www.everydiet.org/cabbage_soup_diet.htm), you do not eat above starvation level calories even when you are you allowed more foods as the week progresses (the highest figure i could come up with was 1,130 cals for day 7). same goes with detoxing, things like the fat flush, snowbird diet etc.
as for tips...if you really want to lose 10lbs in 7 days...drastically restrict your calorie intake and workout like a demon. i know quite a few places where the people are experts in losing a ridiculous amount of weight in the smallest time frame possible .
i'm out. good luck.

For that week eat no bread. Walk/Run on the treadmill for one hour twice a day. Drink at least 64 ounces of water everyday. If you must eat bread, eat it in the morning and only in the morning. Salad for lunch and turkey or fish for dinner with some greens. Don’t forget to take your water to the gym at least 20 oz. This is what I do when I’m trying to lose weight fast and have the time to workout. I normally lose between 5-8 pounds. Just remember you need to eat something for Breakfast, lunch and dinner. You are going to put your body in overdrive by working out so hard and you need to feed it for the energy. Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions. I lost 7lbs in 2 days. This is what I did:
I ate a lot and exercised a little up until 2 days before the weigh in. I did try to drink about 2 gallons of H2O per day. I know I drank over a gallon each day. On Monday, I took guarana and white willow prior to my evening work out and only drank about a gallon of water that day. On Tuesday, I drank a cup of coffee - venti (mind you I hadn't had coffee in a while). I also ate a lot of chicken and broccoli. I didn't eat after 1:30pm. I took a lot of EFA's in the evening and had some psyllium. I only drank a bottle of water and 2 shots of expresso on Weds. morning.
I exercised for about an hour on Monday, 20 minutes on Tuesday, and 20 minutes on Wednesday. The main thing I did was to exercise, eat, and drink a ton of water until 2 days before the weigh in. After that, I decreased my water intake to normal, and then to nothing for about 12 hours or so. And I didn't have any bread for 5 days before the weigh in and I basically ate a lot of fish and greens. And a little chicken. The day before the weigh in I ate a lot of chicken.
