I did it for awhile [1 year] but I got tired of the going around and around.

i haven't been but i haven't heard the most positive things about it. the one thing that really sticks out in my mind were the claims that the machines only allow you to go up to a certain level and this level isn't even that high intensity. so if you ever want to challenge yourself more or if your fitness has increased a lot and you find what you're doing easy, there is apparently no way to work harder. therefore if you're intially losing weight/getting fit with their regimen, over time the workout will become less effective and unless you step up exercise on your own (as you can't do so with curves after a certain point) you'll most likely plateau

additionally, there is less freedom and you can't really tailor the program to suit your own individual needs as it's set up in a circuit so you're all moving from one machine to the next etc.

i've also heard there is a strange gossip mentality and the women there like talk a lot whilst working out. the women apparently tend to be older, also...which is no bad thing in itself but if you're younger and there is a "group" mentality at that gym you may feel left out. that atmosphere is not for everyone, imo.

it seems like you'd get a better workout just joining a regular gym, even if it is women's only, as this would be more beneficial both fitness-wise and in terms of staying focused during your workout time.

however, i'm only going off the things i've read about them and this is just my own analysis based of that. i have read quite a few things about them though.

anyway, here is a link (http://www.diet-blog.com/archives/2005/03/15/curves_for_women_a_lot_of_hype.php) with literally hundreds of responses from people who have gone to curves. it's a mixed bag of experiences. this is another another one (http://www.calorie-count.com/forums/post/66797.html).

Thank y'all for this info. I made an appointment at one near my house just to check it out. I may try it for 6 weeks and see if it jumps starts my weight loss.

I went to visit a curves one day to set up a trial workout. Well, I didn't set up the trial workout because I felt out of place. It was not that the people were not friendly, but they were all so much older than me. 20 years from now, I will probably join. I don't know, it just didn't seem like much of a place for younger people.
