My skin is super oily. Oily enough that the last dermatologist I saw was like whoa...

Ok so I have learned that gentle with my skin works. I only use an actual cleanser at night to remove my make up and cleanse with warm water then rinse with cool water in the morning before make up.

But this Winter has been really cold for Seattle and my skin is TRIPPIN!

Oily as ever and now I'm getting some terrible flaky/peeling spots. Add in that my skin is very prone to brown spots (I'm learning to just accept that I will never be rid of those) and I'm freaking out I don't know what to do.

I'm looking into trying out that Oyin Black Soap Honey facewash stuff.

What do you all suggest? I need gentle, non stripping.

I also have some raw shea butter left over in the fridge I think I might start using on the dry spots. Will that clog my pores? I don't want giant pimples on top of it all.

And lastly I hve to say something nice about my skin so it doesn't get offended, Skin you are looking quite glowy lately thank you.

Aloe vera (natural/organic gel from health food store) helps with my oily skin. It may be useful to provide some balance between the oiliness and the dry patches.

Also, have you considered adjusting your diet to combat the over-oiliness? Do you eat a lot of sugar?

Oh I actually have some aloe I will try that.

My diet is really good. I drink tons of water, don't drink soda. My skin has been this oily since puberty (and I"m 30 now) it runs in my family. My Mama has super oily skin, my Grandma does.

It's good because we don't age hardly but oi.

I got the oily and the sensitive and winter is just not my time of year at all.

From the neck down my skin is really dry. Go figure. That part I've got handled but these peely spots on the face are freaking me out. I don't want to get overzealous and make them worse. I did that as a kid a lot.

Flaxseed oil with each meal will cut out the excess oil I promise you that. I had the same problem and my oil is so behaving since I started taking this with each meal. You will notice a difference quick.

Really? I just started taking flax seed oil about a week ago. I will make sure I get it with each meal thanks.

My skin is a mix of oily and flaky patches aswell and I'm prone to hyperpigmentation.
You just might be my long lost skin-twin?!?!
I will start using Aspirin masks against unclear skin, doing lactic acid peels(against brown spots) and I might try to get some Aloe Vera gel like RelaxerRehab suggested.:yep:
Please keep me updated with your reggie and progress:grin:

I absolutely will. I'm doing some research now and trying to con the bf into letting me spend more of the money I put away for shopping. He does the budget but my skin is not happy and I need to make it better.

My skin went on strike a couple of weeks ago, so I had to make some quick changes.

What has been working for me:

Morning:
Coconut Oil/Safflower oil for cleansing
Remove oil using fragrance-free Baby wipes. I have Huggies right now. But I'm going to switch back to the Parents Choice brand. The Huggies wipes pill and leave little piece of cotton on my face.
Moisturize with Neutrogena Sunblock SPF 45

Evening:
Coconut Oil/Safflower for Cleansing
Remove oil with Baby Wipes
Moisturize with Alpha Hydrox 10% Glycolic Acid cream
Apply a couple of drops of Oil mix around my eyes

2x/week
Exfoliate with baking soda/oil mix

Use a humidifier at night

I've seen a vast improvement. I even have rosy cheeks now.
