View Full Version : sloughing off skin
What have you ladies found to be the best way to slough off skin not from your face but from the rest of your body?? I need to do that and the wash cloth isn't making it happen. I even bought exfoliating gloves from Walgreens. Is there something I should put in my bath water maybe??

Exfoliating gloves work really well...but dont buy the super cheap ones I dont think they are as good. IMO.
Maybe try on of those microdermabrasion cloths that you can get for your face and use it on yoour body.
Or mix some olive/vegetbale/sunflower/any kid of oil with some salt and scrub away, rinse with your usual shower gel
Works really well for me.

SALLYs has some gloves I bought a while ago and they held up well. The home made oil/salt is a great thing-store brands too scented-just be careful because the tub becomes very slippery.

Actually, you probably need to try dry brushing your skin. I used to do it but got lazy. You can sometimes get the brush from Kmart in the bath/body section but if not, try the Body Shop. Before you bath/shower, starting with your feet (and I even mean the soles of your feet) start brushing upward toward your heart. Brush even the palms of you hands. Take your bath/shower and you should start to notice good skin tone in a week.
It's good for circulation and one summer I had hella nasty mosquito bite scars that are completely gone from regular skin brushing.

I bought mine from the body shop. They are not scratchy like some cheaper brands and it feels nice when using it.
I agree with body brushing but I keep reading articles saying not to do it on dry skin because it drags the skin. I used to to do but just stopped because I found it was easier in the shower with the gloves.
Brooklyn...yes thanks for that forgot to add it can become very slippery. I find it easier to sit in the shower and do it so im not slipping about.

Try Milk baths. Wal-Mart sells a powdered whole milk called NIDO. (usually with the hispanic foods) I've also used canned Goats Milk.
Add 1 cup to your bath wter,
Soak at least 15 minutes.
The dead skin will slough off with gentle rubbing.
:grin:AND your skin will feel silky smooth.

Great tip Cleopatra is renowned for having silky soft skin and and also her milk baths.
I use to do dry skin brushing before my showers but I got lazy. Now that milk in the bath sounds really nice. I'm gonna try it when I get a new pair of gloves this time from either Sally's or The body shop. Thank you ladies for your advice I am really looking forward to trying this. :)

You go girl!....I thought I was the only one who did this!!!!!
As a PJ experimenting this way has been a great way of getting rid of products. I always try to find mutiple uses for products , if we left it to the manufacturers  we'd have a different product for evey inch of our bodies.

ITA. I LOVE skin brushing. I heard about it years ago and kick myself every day for not starting then. I do it twice/day now. It only takes a few minutes. I think it takes less time than using a product. :yep: My skin is very smooth, soft, and is much more even tone... and it's winter!

I love love love milk baths. :love2: I have been doing them for years with a little honey added. I also use bath scrubs from time to time.

I like to rub a creamy or oily scrub into my dry skin. I massage head to toe, usually standing in the tub for 5 minutes or so, then I cut the water on and rinse it off.

You can buy sloughing lotion. It is a cream that as you rub it in the dead skin comes off. I use it on my feet and face (to remove the dead skin b/c of Obagi).

NIDO is a whole milk product. ....I also use it as both my regular Milk, and as creamer in my coffee too.
