Hey chicas..
I would REALLY like to get some cute stuff I've seen online. Skirts, dresses, slacks, jeans, shoes, etc. But I'm always afraid that I won't get the right fit. Particularly w/ shoes, but clothes too.
For those of you who shop regularly online, how do you deal w/ the sizing issue? How do you know what pieces will fit you right? I'm sure some things can be tailored; that's true of items bought in store. But what about shoes?
Just looking for a little insight. :) Tryin to get my fashionista on... :p Thankyou in advance!!

Ok shop on line for myself and what I would do is go to the store and try on, lets say, a pants and if it fits, then I know I could go online to buy the merchandise. If I can't visit a store, I'll buy one item from the store and if it fits, then I know I can continue to order from them. When ordering shoes, I normally order my size and that seems to work. Zappos, Shoes.com etc.

With shoes, so many places offer free shipping on returns you can take a huge risk.
One thing I like to do with clothing and shoes is to google the product. Chances are somebody has written a review about it or another site is offering the item. The review or other site may get some insight as to whether the item runs big/small or fits true to size.
If all else fails, I ask myself - what is the point of this outfit? If it's a shirt I'm going clubbing in, I'd rather fit my waist and risk a little bit more cleavage than I'm used to instead of buying it too big and having the fabric bulk around my waist. For pants, fit the hip and tailor like crazy.
HTH. Happy shopping!!

Hey
I pay more attention to their sizing charts than I would of what I think is "my size" We all know that no size is universal, and a large at one store could be a small at another. So it's best to go by what the merchant explains their size to be (e.g a 40" bust, 36" waist may be a 'large' shirt for a particular merchant). Most online stores have sizing charts. I use these whenever I shop online and so far, I haven't had a problem with fit.
before you log on, take thorough measurements of yourself, give or take an inch or two depending on how loose/tight you want the clothes to fit. Also, w/pants- how long or short you want them is a measure of the inseam- add or subtract inches depending on your wants. Same is true for dresses and skirts.
HTH :)

I try to stick with brands and stores I know so I know what size fits. And when all else fails I'll go up a size. I haven't had to send anything back yet.

Thanks for the responses!
Missey - Yah I thought about that: going to the actual store and trying on a piece to get a feel for the sizing. My only thing was online stores that don't have an actual store like Newport News, Speigel, etc. So I'll have to do like you said and just try it out. :) Thanks! Oh and I've recently discovered Zappos, LOVE the shoes. I'm gonna give it a shot in my normal shoe size and see what happens. My feet are wider than average, but the 'Wide' sized can be too wide sometimes.
IvyHair - You're right, I do notice that Zappos has free shipping both ways. :yep: Def. gotta remember to google the brand to get a review!!! Thank you!! I just found a tailor that comes to my worksite so that works out well! :D Thank you!
Amara - Duhhh.. The sizing chart. I totally forgot about that!! (see? slow..) I have to measure myself so I can get the right size according the MEASUREMENTs, not the number. :D Thankyou!
BMore - Okay so all else fails, go up a size. I'll keep that in mind!! :D Thanks!!
