Eat only when your stomach starts growling or have other signs of hunger. Stop eating when you are full.

I don't know many people who eat past fullness so I didn't understand the 2nd requirement.

Anyway, if you follow these 2 recommendations you can eat whatever you want. Now, I do this but I am always hungry. They list certain foods for people always hungry, baked potatoe, peanuts, etc..

True statement of a small person. I almost always eat past fullness. Why? I don't know. I am working on stopping it.

You eat past fullness? I guess I don't understand how you would do that?

I saw that article-- i thought it was kinda weird. Isn't that the whole point of any diet? To eat only when you are hungry?

Actually that "diet" would actually slow down your metabolism, it would be smarter to eat 6 mini meals a day. you wouldnt feel hungry and you'd speed up your metabolism

LuvHair,

I too thought the article was strange. Woman's world always has some miracle for losing weight and none of them ever seem to make sense.

You just keep eating. Watch a show on obesity, and you'll see that few of them stop when they are full.

I usually eat past fullness because I have time for two real meals a day. But if I wait until my stomach starts growling, I will be in the ER because of low blood sugar. I set certain times for eating usually 11am and 4 pm and a ham and cheese sandwich at about 9 pm.

I eat when my stomach starts growling because I eat to live and do not live to eat. If I didn't have to eat, I likely wouldn't. There are only about 20 food items that make me drool, otherwise, eating is not a big deal. The foods I do like are very filling though so you get full quick.

By the time your brain tells your stomach you're full it's too late. I've been finding eating half my meal or sandwich...then waiting about 20 minutes(drink some water whike you wait) makes a big difference. I find I'm usually satisfied and don't need any more. When I eat the whole meal...10-20 minutes later I feel 'stuffed'! Try it.

sweetcocoa is rite - i read somewhere that the brain doesnt acknowledge that you are full till 15mins after the meal! - go figure. http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

also its very benefical to eat 3fullmeals plus 2 or 3 snacks daily = 5 to 6 meals daily. http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/look.gif

If I only ate when my stomach growled chances are I would get so famished , my blood sugar will drop and I would end up eating something unhealthy, therefore I could not follow these recommendations.

If I waited till my stomach growled, that would mean that I waited waaay too long to eat, and that would increase my chances of being totally ravenous, thus over-eating.

A LOT more people eat past fullness, especially in this country where you are served full portions and your brain somehow feels the need to finish your plate before getting up.

I learned now how to eat when I am done...not overfull. I pack the rest away and even if I don't want it, I pack it anyway and give to the first homeless person I see on the
way home.

When at home, I purchased measurers and I measure out my food.

I have to disagree with the "eat when your stoamch growls" idea because that's what leads to overeating in the first place..you are soo hungry you scarf down whats in front of you (healthy or not). It's better to eat small meals every 3-4 hours during the day. Eating when you are hungry is like going grocery shopping on a empty/hungry stomach..you need up taking in all the junk you don't even need.
