Hey ladies. I just finished my first half marathon. I've run in several 5Ks before, so the half marathon was the next goal on my list. I'll probably run a few more before I move up to a full marathon. I was wondering: are there any other runners from the Kansas City area on this board? It would be nice to see more of us out there.

Congrats neenzmj!!! That's so awesome! How do you feel? What was the course like? Hope you enjoy a big post race meal. You totally deserve it.

I'm going to be running my first half marathon next weekend and my first marathon on Dec. 9. Thus far my highest mileage is 14 miles.

Thank you, ladies! I feel good -- a little tired and sore, but overall good. The course had a couple of good hills, but luckily, I'd been working on hills throughout the summer, so I felt really strong. I started feeling it around mile 9, but I was determined not to focus on that and kept charging forward. I got hung up at one of the bathroom stops, but other than that I felt good about my pace (at least for my first time out.)

Good luck on your upcoming runs!

Congrats 2 U. : dance7:

I have run 1 half marathon and 5 full marathons... Keep it up. You will be running that full marathon before you know it! What is it like training in Kansas? Does it get very cold there this time of year?

I'd been doing most of my training during the summer months. Lately we've had fairly mild winters, but when it gets cold -- its cold!

Congrats! I'm definitely doing some half marathons after the winter. Good luck finding some running buddies!

Heartbreak Hill is the Boston Marathon. Did Oprah do Boston?
