I have super duper oily skin.
cleanse morning and night with Dove soap
exfoliate once bi-weekly with Queen Helene Natural Oatmeal and Honey Facial Scrub
mask twice a week with Bath & Body Works Bio' Purifying Facial Mask
toner as needed with Kiehl's Calendula Herbal Extract Alcohol Free Toner or Neutrogena's Alcohol Free Toner -> Picture Here (http://www.neutrogena.com/ProductsDetails.asp?ID=26)
eye gel - Fruit Of The Earth Vitamin E Moisturizing Gel -> Picture Here (http://www.fote.com/prod_skin_gel.html#)
moisturize with Lustra AF -> Lustra AF Website (http://www.sunandskin.com/) or Mario Badescu Control Moisturizer For Oily Skin
I USED to get acne on my chin (mainly during that time of the month). My dermatologist prescribed Retin-A Micro (very gentle, not harsh like plain ole Retin-A) to use on my chin. I have not had ANY type of acne since I started using this on July 29.

I have combination skin that tends to STILL break out. I think it is hormonal as I had fairly clear skin when I was younger. I'm also breaking out now in places I never broke out before (cheeks and chin).
As I'm a PJ (product junkie), I tend to use something for a couple months or until I use it up, then if I don't notice DRASTIC improvements (and noticibly clearer skin) I do more research and buy new products.
I tend to read alot concerning skin care though so I'm pretty well informed about ingredients. Haven't found my "holy grail" skin care products, yet.
However, currently I'm using:
To cleanse: Cetaphil (regular formula) to remove makeup, then Reviva Glycolic Acid cleanser (rubbed in, left on 1-5 minutes, then rinsed).
Stronger cleaning: Sometimes I use a sulfur soap instead if I want a "deeper" cleanse. Sulfur is good for pimples and really cleans out those pores.
Toner: I was using Hydrogen Peroxide, 3% which was working pretty well. Then, I read somewhere that it was too harsh to use everyday "...imagine what it does to your skin if it bleaches your hair." So right now, I'm not toning but I plan to buy a glycolic acid toner sometime soon.
Moisturizer: Born Again MSM Cream every other day; on the other days I use a skin serum (forgot brand) containing DMAE, Ester-C, MSM & Alpha-Lipoic Acid.
http://www.stimulife-ind-dist.com/images/MSM-CREAM.gif
Mask: Indian Secret Clay Mask (about once to twice a week)
http://www.globalnovelties.com/health/aztecdisplay.jpg
Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay (http://www.globalnovelties.com/health/aztec.htm)
Scrubs: Baking Soda or St. Ives Apricot Scrub (I use Baking Soda most of the time, though. About 3 times a week as needed.)
Pimple Medicine: I use Benzamycin gel at night (prescribed)
For the last few days, I've been experimenting with a "homemade concoction" I whipped up. I use this on one side of my face, the Benz. on the other. I'm going to try it for a month or two and see what kind of results I have. It is a combination of things I've researched that are supposed to be great for skin health. We'll see.

I haven't really been following a skin care routine lately. I do wash twice a day with dove. I've been experimenting with the various formulations over the last few weeks (sensitive, unscented). I'll try the original next week when I finish with the unscented.
I also use the puriphying mask. I used it in conjunction with phisoderm acne mask during the summer. I was pleased with them both.
I still have my dermaware products and plan on doing a facial with these once a week. I did one last week.
As a toner I sometimes use peroxide. I found an excellent product by chance this summer but am unable to locate the product. It was a clearance item from a local grocery store.
The black soap was good. Right now, however, I'm using what I have and since the dove doesn't irritate my skin I use it so that I can better judge the moisturizers I have on hand.
Ideally my routine would go like this:
Wash twice daily - Black soap once, glycolic cleanser/glucosomine cleanser/ or dove once
Moisturize twice daily - glucosamine or continuously clear in morning, a force, a-copper, or c in evening
Use a serum at least 4 times a week - a-copper, c no wrinkle, pharmaC
Scrub once or twice a week
Mask - once a week using puriphying, once a week using a peeling
Glycolic peel every 2 weeks (facial)
This seems like a lot but it is really simple. It basically involves 2 sets of products. Cleanse, protect/treat (serum), and moisturize. The treatment won't happen every day so really on a daily basis it will be to wash and moisturize. The masks will happen twice a week alternating the one I use and eventually using them once a week alternating, one this week and one next week.
I used sooo many products for my oily yet dry , irritated skin with often breakouts that I was thinking that nothing ever will be good enough. I used Neutrogena (oil free cream cleanser) , Olay , Clinique , Mary Kay and many others and I was still having problems with breakouts , dry skin and lots of oil.
I am using for 4 days now Shiseido pureness Deep cleansing Foam and as a moisturizer
The Matifiyng moisturizer oil-free and in these 4 days my face cleared up completely , yes , these are expensive , 75 CND or 50 $ but I have never experienced something so good , my skin is cleaned and not dry after I wash it and the moisturizer keeps it oil free all day long . These are very good products ! If u have a lot of problems with the skin it is a very good idea to try them .
Now I am happy to wake up in the morning because I know I will look good and my face is not shiny and yaky .

I have dry sensitive skin.
I use Clinique Cleansing Products:
Extra Mild Facial Soap (2x Daily)
Mild Clarifying Lotion (2x Daily)
Dramatically Different Moisturizer (2x Daily - More if Needed)
7day Gentle Scrub (Once a Week)
All About Eyes (Morning and Night)
Like others I had tried everything and nothing worked until I started using the Clinique faithfully.

I have dry sensitive skin too. Right now I use Neutrogena Sensitive Skin Cleansing lotion and Neutrogena Porefective Cream. I am looking for other inexpensive products. Is Clinque kind of expensive?

I have oily skin that is prone to breakouts.
I use a gentle cleanser I got from Whole Foods called Nature's something or the other. I can't think of the name, but it is very gentle. I also use the moisturizer with the same name, really light yet moisturizing.
I wash my face with the gentle cleanser. Then I use a benzol pexoride cream (a fingertipful) and rub that all over my face. I then follow that with my moisturizer.
Every other night I use a glycolic acid product or a toning product instead of the moisturizer.
Since I have been doing this (cleanser, benzol peroxide, moisturizer), I haven't had any major breakouts. I probably have been doing this for 3-4 months now. The benzol peroxide rubbed all over my face prevents the breakouts. I don't even usually get breakouts during that time of the month, which I usually did. If I do happen to get a pimple, I just spot-treat it w/ the benzol peroxide and make sure I'm using enough overall.

Tea,
Sorry for the delay but to me for how my skin looks, it's worth it. They have a starter kit for $22.50. It includes sm. soap, med size Moisturizer and a lg sz Clarifying lotion. If you like it, then graduate to the normal sizes the soap is $10, Moisturizer is about $14/$15, Clarifying lotion is about $13. They last a good while. I hadn't had to purchase since August.

Tea,
I've used Clinique products in the past and they really do last a long time, especially the soap. They're inexpensive compared to other department store brands, and not much more than many drugstore brands. If you want to try Clinique, just have them skin type you and recommend products for your three step plan. If you don't like them, you can return or exchange them.

Your skin sounds just like mine. I rarely had a pimple when I was younger and now I seem to get them regularly. When I did get pimples when was younger, they were usually on my forehead, now they're on my cheeks and chin too. I'm thinking about ordering the mask you use. Do you mix it with apple cider vinegar or water? Also, how do use a baking soda scrub? Do you mix into a paste first, or do you apply it directly out of the box? I've read that scrubs can make breakouts worse. Have you had any problems with it?

I have been having trouble with my skin lately. It's Combination - very dry in some areas and ranges from oily to mildly oily on my chin, between my eyebrows and sometimes in the cheek areas immediately surrounding my nose and mouth. I've been having trouble breaking out more frequently and the breakouts leaving spots on my face. A hyperpigmentation type effect...
I always had success with Mario Badescu products in the past and so I decided to go back to them after struggling for a few weeks. Blkmane's posts about Glycolic Acid got me curious and I went to their site and decided to invest in some of their Glycolic line to add to what I already have. The planned regime is as follows:
<ul type="square">
Remove Eye Makeup 1x a day with Lancome Bifacil.
Cleanse 2x daily with either Mario Badescu Botanical Facial Gel or MB Glycolic Foaming Cleanser.
Tone 2x daily with MB Glycolic Acid Toner.
Treat entire face 2x daily with Neutrogena Deep Pore (this stuff always helps me staving off breakouts once I get them under control).
Spot Treat Blemishes at night with Queene Helene Mint Julep Mask (great at drying out current blemishes).
Moisturize 2x daily with MB AHA and Ceramide Moisturizer .
[/list]
I'm hoping this combo of products - some I know work and others with ingredients that are well documented in assisting the problems I'm experiencing - will work. I just ordered the Glycolic Toner and the Cleanser today from their site http://www.mariobadescu.com .
Whenever my skin has acted up, this product line has helped me. I hope they'll do the trick this time too. Wish me luck. I'll post results.

Tracy,
The MB product line is definitely a good one. Thanks for introducing it to me. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I still have plenty of the Enzyme Cleansing Gel and the Control Moisturizer for Oily Skin. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I think you'll have good luck with the MB product line (especially since glycolic acid does good things for the skin).
I'm still using the skin care regimen that I posted above (in the evening). However, thanks to Caramela, I ordered the skin care items for oily skin from Jason Natural (for morning use). /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I agree 100% Allandra - this is a quality lineand not too too expensive.
I am hoping that the glycolic works this miracle for me...I am sick of my skin not being clear and unmarked. It's the tone and clarity that I'm concerned with more than the zits....

As usual, I'm late to the thread but I have dry skin.
I use CVS or any generic brand of Cetaphil. In 1999, I really got into skincare--that's how I found the hairclubs-and tried a lot of cleansers. They all irritated my skin. Cetaphil was the first that didn't irritate my skin. I don't know how well it actually cleans but whenever my face feels extra dirty I throw a drop of Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Soap in it. The only other things that I like on my skin are Noxzema and Dove.
I'm not really following any regimen but this what I used to do. I hope to start again soon:
Wash: Cetaphil daily
Weekly Facial:
Wash
Exfoliate: Baking Soda or Cetaphil with cornmeal (once a week)
Steam: Sometimes I throw herbs in but mainly I put essential oils (once a week)
Masque: Honey with milk and/or essential oils (once a week)
Tone: Lavender water--- I hope to try some new toners out soon
Moisturize: Still looking into this one.....trying vaious natural oils

Oh my goodness! I'm sorry Allandra, I didn't even notice there was a this on this subject. I recently sent a post for skincare but I am going to include my in this one too. Please forgive me.
My skin is normal to oily in the summer and extremely dry in the winter. I have recommended it to friends who have breakouts and acne and they love it too. Don't get put off by the oils, it's not oily at all and washes off clean and the toner is FABOULOUS!!! The trio costs about $50.00 but...it lasted me about six months and I had to by the toner again. I am still on my first container of the moisturizer it only takes a little so I am going to say I won't run out until May of next year which will give me a whole year of using the moisturizer

I too haven't found my "holy grail" yet, but since turning 30 this past May, I can no longer just use anything.
AM regime:
Rosa Graf AMINTAmed wash http://www.heitlandcosmetics.com/amintamed_wash.htm
Tone with their tonic http://www.heitlandcosmetics.com/amintamed_tonic.htm
Then lightly pat some pure Jojoba oil on to my face and neck (don't forget the neck ladies) I pay special attention to the dry areas of my T-Zone (which are my cheeks and oddly the "sides" of my nose... go figure.
PM Regime:
Same as above except I dab on some AVON Hydrofirming Eye Cream all around the eyes.
ONCE A WEEK, I exfoliate and tighten my pores with AVON Pore-Fection Mask. In the future, when I run out of the AVON pore-fection mask, I'd also like to get the Rosa Graf Bran Yeast Mask http://www.heitlandcosmetics.com/bran_yeast_mask.htm
ALL DAY LONG: I drink water.
Yesterday after church, one of the women told me my make-up looked good! I asked which part... she said the foundation! I glowed because I didn't have on any foundation... I lead praise and worship in my church and sweat so much that I don't even wear makeup except mascara, lip liner and lip gloss. I was so pleased.

I just was paid a lovely compliment regarding my skin from a co- worker. I have noticed that my skin requires more nuturing as I get older. I am currently in my late twenties. I have oily skin in the summer and normal to oily skin in the winter.
I love Kiehl's skin care products. I currently use the following products for my skin regimen:
I wash at least twice a day with Kiehl Foaming Non-Detergent Cleanser
I use Calendula Herbal Extract Toner after ewashing my face.
At night I use their Ultra Facial Moisturizer and during the day I use Sodium PCA Oil-Free Moisturizer.
I use Queen Helene Mint facial masque at least once a week. I also use Queen Helene natural scrub (Cocoa Butter, Mint Julip) once a week as well but I think I may start using it every three days.
I drink a lot of water and I hardly ever drink soda.
I am obsessed with having clear, smooth skin. No amount of make up will hide bad skin so it's just better to invest the money on adequate skincare than expensive cosmetics.

I have oily skin in the summer and normal-oily in the winter. I went to Kiehl's a while ago for the first time and got samples of their skin care products I LOVE THEM! My skin has never been clearer and I don't break out as much if hardly ever at all.
Wash 2x/day with Rare Earth Oatmeal Cleanser #2
Rosewater Toner #1
Water Based Sunscreen w/ SPF 25
Light Nourishing Eye Cream
Rare Earth Face Masque (Once every other week)
St. Ives Peel-Off Hydroxy Masque (alternate w/ Rare Earth)
Aveeno Facial Scrub
The Kiehl's rep also gave me the Pineapple Papaya Scrub but I didn't like it at all. The granuales were huge and harsh and there was more gel than granuales so it wasn't effective.
i use nivea foaming face wash once in the mornin' then again @ night and drink plenty of water

i have combination skin. it is very oily if i don't use the right products and tend to breakouts, but if i use harsh acne medication it is soo dry it starts flaking, isn't that weird?
morning:
wash with proactiv cleanser
follow with proactiv moisturizer (15spf)
night:
wash with sulfur soap
follow with proactiv repairing lotion
when i have a blemish i put some proactiv refining mask on it to dry it out. once a week i do a peeling.

I have oily skin easily prone to breakout.
Since the summer I have been using Aveeno Oatmeal soap twice daily, St. Ives apricot scrub mixed with pure honey and lemon juice every morning(using a scrub daily is not for everyone) and palmers cocoa butter lotion as a moisturizer. I have always used witch hazel to try to battle the gallons of oil my skin produces, I keep a bottle and cotton balls in my office for when it gets unbearable.
Since I have been doing this I have noticed dramatic changes in my skin. Friends and family have also taken notice to the change. I used to have large pores and brown scarring and they have almost completely disappeared.

Hi all. Newbie here! I am a MASSIVE PJ and have tried everything under the sun! I have dry skin and I currently use the Mario Badescu line
Wash with Enzyme Cleanser
Tone with Alpha Grapefruit Cleansing lotion
day mositure with The Moisture Magnet - spf 15
night moisture with NMF AHA Ceremide Complex
weekly mask with the Enzyme Mask
And I am trying to go for facials and Mario B every six weeks. Just got one a couple of days ago and it makes ALL the difference. I get the regular facial with the Glycolic treatment. It helps clear up dark marks!
My only problem is with the Enzyme cleanser - it is a little more drying than I would like. I sometimes use Origins Never A Dull Moment skin brightening facial cleanser. AMAZING cleanser!! But I am one of those people who gets obsessed with using everything from the same line and not mixing products. So I will probably get another cleanser from MB.
Some other lines I have tried that are nice
Jo Malone (but this will put you in the poor house. VERY VERY VERY expensive)
Sage Skincare www.zerozits.com (http://www.zerozits.com) (another expensive line though)
Shesedio Skincare - very nice products
Dove cleansing cloths. These work so very well and get off all the makeup.

Hey everyone. I have oily skin with a dry surface. Ive tried Proactiv, but it made my skin so dry and irritated and I was still getting pimples. So since I work at a beauty store I decided to try this product that they have called Bibo healthy skincare line and I love it. My skin has never looked so bright, everyone at work has been givng me compliments about my skin. I use Cool as a cucumber cleansing gel and Amazing grapes moisturizer with SPF. I use that morning and night. I also take Ultra Evening primrose oil 1300 mg daily and that does wonders for my skin. I drink more water.

After trying and spending a lot of $$$ This is what works for me..
Getting a facial every 3 months.
Using the products that the facialist recommends. I resisted doing this but when I finally relented it did work!
This is my regime:
Sesha foaming cleanser(used with an mild abrasive sponge)
Karin Herzog VitaKombi night creme(it is a creme for acne prone skin)
Karin Herzog scrub several times a week
Sage SPF 15
Sage gelloid: a light moisturizer for when I need it...

My first post on the skin board. My skin is combo, more oily on forehead and down the nose. Here's my regime:
AM:
Wash with water, use very cold water after to tighten pores and 'wake me up'
SAGE SPF 25. An ultra matte but moisturizing oil free lotion. Love this.
PM:
Wash face same as above.
Use px Benzoyl Peroxide.
Retinol Roc Eye Cream
Approx 3 x a week I use Aapri Facial Scrub.
Having experimented alot over the years, this is my best regime so far that works for me.
ps. I have px strength Retin A which I have used to fade away any blemish marks.
That's it!

I have really oily skin but some products for oily skin are to drying. I also use the oatmeal and honey scrub twice weekly. I add a tablespoon or more of natural honey! Girl my skin comes out silky smooth but not dry. I use witch hazel everytime I wash my face. I also do a AVC splash when my face breaks out. I dilute the AVC or put it full strengh on the pimple itself. The pimple is gone the next day or no more than three days later!!

I have very dry and sensitive skin(plus I'm getting older...). I've always used Palmer's Cocoa butter cream when I went to bed(it helped keep pimples away). Lately I've been cleasing with Fashion Fair(fragrance free) cleasning creme with aloe vera( taken off with a warm facial cloth) followed by the Moisturizing creme with aloe vera for dry skin. I've been doing this morning and night and my skin has become very soft and smooth. I need less foundation when I wear it and yesterday a lady at the Clinique counter commented on how beautiful my skin was. I must admit my skin didn't look this good in my twenties. It feels really soft. I hightly recommend this for anyone with dry skin. This is a very basic routine and great if you don't want to spend alot of time cleasning and moisturizing your skin.

I have very oily skin and have tried everything under the sun to try and stop my face from breaking out. I used to have very clear skin that never broke out but after I had my son,I dont know if my hormones when outta wack or what but my face went crazy. I've tried Retin-A which worked for about 6 months. I've tried benzoyl peroxide (sp?) clearasil,
oral acne medicine,pro-activ which I hated. Finally my skin care regimen is the following and I love it,my skin is finally the way I want it:
In the morning I wash with Aveeno Oatmeal soap w/salicyc acid and then I follow up with 100% pure Witch Hazel astrigent. After that I apply clindamycin which is a topical acne medicine. Once that dries I use Neutrogena moisturizer for oily skin.
At night it is the same regimen except instead of using the Neutrogena moisturizer I use the differin gel acne medicine.
This seems to work great for me.

I too am obsessed with having clear smooth skin. When I started reading about MAC on so many different websites, In June 2002, I went out and purchased their Select Cover Up concealer and their Studio Fix foundation. To date, I have used these two products twice. Yes, it was definitely a waste of money. I certainly don't mind spending money on good skin care products (cleanser, tonic, masque, exfoliator, moisturizer), but the only money I will spend on make-up wil be for lip color and nail polish.
BTW, I'm now using Origins skin care products, and my face and I are quite happy. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I receive lots of compliments on my skin and complexion. I have pretty normal skin but it was not always this way. When I was younger, I used to have the worst break outs and my skin was quite oily. My parents both recommended that I switch to Noxema to clear up my skin. After trying every product under the sun, I switched and have not used anything else to cleanse my skin.
Noxema is not for everyone, but it has worked WONDERs on my skin. I've used it for about 10 years now and I rarely break out anymore. WHEN I do, I dab a bit of noxema on the pimple and go to sleep. Its usually gone in the morning. I recommend it to everyone, at least try it for a few weeks. I use almost any kind of moisturizer on my face, I even use Noxema as a moisturizer after I wash. I also exfoliate once a week using St. Ives Apricot Scrub.

Hello Everyone!! This is my first post on the skin care board /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I have determined that my skin is very very dry especially in the winter so I am currently testing out various proucts to see what works. My regime is not the best and I just recently began taking care of my skin (bad me! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif))
In the morning I use Mary Kay TimeWise® 3-In-1 Cleanser
and TimeWise® Age-Fighting Moisturizer so far my face hasn't been dry using these two products but the newbie in me wonders if this is the right product for me right now.
Currently this is all I have been using for my face, for everything else I have been using various lotions but nothing that I really like, a friend of mine suggested I use Johnsons Baby lotion with Aloe and Vitamin E to combat dryness it works okay but I know there are better products out there, I am hoping to learn as I go what products work best for this dry skin of mine. /forums/images/graemlins/ohwell.gif

I have dry skin. my complexion is like dark chocolate. since taking vitamins like B5 (500mg), zinc (15mg) and EPO (1000mg) my skin is looking really healthy and glowing and my whole skin feels moisturised. apart from the vitamins the only other thing i put on my skin is bodyshops body butters each morning.
but i must say i love what these vitamins have done for my once dull skin! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I always had dry skin when I lived in Canada. Now that I am in the sun my skin has changed to a normal skin type. To clease I use Clean and Clear foaming facial cleanser and twice a week use Avon's Clearskin cleansing facial scrub and once a week use Elecktra's Tea tree oil peel off mask ( I love this product, it's like a new face everytime!) I recently bought Nivea's Anti-wrinkle and firming creme that I can't stop saying great things about, I gave a review a few weeks ago, I use it every morning and night, it has SPF 4 so it's good for the sun. /forums/images/graemlins/drunk.gif

My skin tends to be pretty oily with a few dry patches during the winter months. A friend introduced me to washing my face with oil. At first I was real skeptical because I was under the impression that oil would break my skin out.
I have been washing with oil for the last 2 months and my skin has been WONDERFUL!! My skin has not been oily, nor has it been shiny and I have had one pimple. Washing with the oil actually made the pimple disappear within one day!
The method for washing with oil is to use either jojoba or olive oil. Apply the oil to either moist or dry skin. Rub in. Allow it to sit for about 5 minutes. Proceed to wash with a wet, warm wash cloth.
That's it. No need for moisturizer. My skin is sooooo soft and in the best condition it has been in quite a long time. I told my mom, my friends and even my 10 year old daughter has begun to do it. Everybody has had nothing but rave reviews about this simple method. My friends who were experiencing blackheads, said that they no longer have them. Right now all I can say is I am loving my skin! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Wow, that oil regime is really interesting. I may try it myself. I seem to be getting good results from African Black soap that I purchased in Florida. I have oily/combination skin which breaks out consistently (I haven't had clear skin since I was 12).
I wash 2 times a day with the black soap and a washcloth. i found online a "treatment" with the soap where you leave the soap on overnight and rinse in the morning. I tried it last night and the pimples I had are drying up! I'll keep at this for a bit since I have so much soap left, but this oil wash thing has me intrigued.

Hey candycane...I have read about using oil several times. That method is listed in a few of my natural beauty books that I ahve here at home.
Maybe I'll try it one day. I guess I'll have to order some more jojoba oil first.
Which jojoba oil do you use? I used to use jojoba oil on my face as a moisturizer but my face would just itch until I got the jojoba oil from Mountain Rose Herbs.
I have dry, sensitive skin and I currently use a blend in my daily regime:
Daily Cleanser
1 tbsp. Cetaphil (gentle skin cleanser)
½ tsp. Carrot seed oil (not the essential oil)
one squirt of honey
½ tsp. vegetable glycerine
1 drop of neroli essential oil
Toner
I follow with a mist of either Evian mineral spray or a rosemary hydrosol diluted w/ distilled H2O
I then use a toning lotion by Yonka for dry skin
Moisturizer
I finish off with Yonka Hydrating List Effect Cream w/ Yonka Dermal2 (for dry skin)
Monthly
I do a facial mask using Dead Sea mud blended with a variety of the ingredients listed above. I also use Yonka’s Hydrating Botanical Gel Mask.
I tried using the African Black soap but it irritated my skin and I had red bumps the very next morning.

Hey lala /forums/images/graemlins/wave.gif
Your regimen sounds good. I like it but I've never heard of Yonka.......
I don't have my book available...what does the neroli do? Where do you get your carrot oil from?
Hey Daviine,
I apologize for not posting more specific info. This is the Yonka toner that I use: http://www.essentialdayspa.com/images/Yonka/lotion_ps.jpg
You can do a search on http://froogle.google.com/ to find more Yonka products (I get them from my Mom who is a licensed cosmetolgist). The neroli aka orange blossom essential oil is supposed to regenerate skin cells and is suitable for all skin types since it does not irritate. It also smells heavenly. It's expensive, so I only use one drop at a time. I buy the oils from http://www.camdengrey.com and http://www.fromnaturewithlove.com/. HTH…

thanks lala. Don't apologize for posting general info. How could you have know that I would want specifics? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Anyways, that stuff looks too expensive for my blood (right now).
I do want to experiemnt with using essential oils in my Cetaphil. I often put sandalwood in my honey masks.
Daviine,
Yonka products are pricey. My mom gets a 50% disc. at the salon where she works, but I still only use a teensy amount at a time. I've never used the sandalwood on my face, only on my ends when they get dry. I live in a cold climate and my skin (when I was younger) would always peel and look scaly in the winter. I've been getting compliments lately, so I'm thinking my blend is working. BTW, I bought an 1/8 oz. bottle of the neroli, b/c it is one of the luxury essential oils.

I was EXTREMELY OILY and suffered from persistent blackheads, whiteheads and closed comedones until I started taking Accutane on August 26, 2002. I have combination skin that leans toward the dry side, mostly around my eyes, my nose and hairline.
Cleansers- Cetaphil (or the cheaper CVS version with the same ingredients for $3 less). Usually I wash it off with water but if I'm rushing, I just wipe it off. If I'm having a breakout I use Cuticura soap. It's good for rashes and that type of stuff.
Moisturizers - It's the CVS knockoff of Lubriderm. At night before bed, it's cocoa butter.
Treatments - For spot treatments for zits, it's Vick Vaporub. It dries it up quickly.

I have seriously oily skin..
For years I used products that were drying out my skin. You may think that oily skin can't dry out, but it can. Oil is much different than moisture. Oily skin produces oil, but it still needs moisture to be healthy and look fresh. So,
I use Timewise Skin Care System by Marykay Cosmetics.
I don't have time for a lot of steps to my skin care routine and Marykay combines basic skin care into two easy steps:
1 - Timewise Cleanser--To cleanse, mask and tone all in one
Step
2 - Timewise Age fighting Moisturizing--To moisturize and
deliver age fighting benefits.
I immediately started seeing benefits of this product after one use. I contine to use this along with Marykay Oil matifier, which is a lotion used to absorb oil. It can be used on top of makeup with out disturbing it! I also use Beauty Blotter tissues to absorb oil over makeup and instantly give a matte finish. I just read your post and what a wonderful product use. I am a Marykay Consultant and a Esthetician student and may I suggest one thing: Please do not use any type of Baby oil on your skin. It contains fragrance and will dry out your skin and can cause premature aging. We do have Enriched Moisturizing formula for Extra dry skin and Extra Emoient Creams. They are formulated for dry skin and i think that you would love them. I have very oily skin. By 11:00 a.m. I can fry two eggs on my face. However, lately I have found a regimen that works for me.
I use origins Liquid Clay Foaming Cleanser Morning and Night, once a week I use baking soda in the Liquid Clay for a facial scrub. Twice a week I use Phillips Milk of Magnesia Original flavor for a mask let it sit for 10 mins. I use Gly/Sal Pads (from my doctor) in the Evening only. At $35.00 a pop /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif I try to stretch the usage. In the evening I use Neutrogena on the spot acne treatment all over my face. I also use skin success fade cream in the mornings. This regimen has helped me elimate frequent breakouts and excessive oil. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention I use oil mattifier by Mary Kay before appyling a full coverage concealer in which I use just to cover up the dark spots. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I have Combination skin (part oily part dry) that changes from season to season.
My regime: I cleanse my face with Dove or Olay. I use St. Ives Apricot Scrub on alternate days to slough off dead skin, unclog pores, and to reduce breakouts that I still continue to have. I use Green Tea as a toner, instead of alcohol, and use St. Ives Cucumber and Elastin Stress Gel around my eyes. Sea & Ski Sunblock only when I go out and about, St. Ives Collegen and Elastin Moisturizer to use over my sunblock and upon retiring. On occaisions, I can splurge with a Green Tea steam facial and a deep pore mask.

I have (or should say had) oily skin. Since my last post I've modified my regimen. I now use store brand olive oil and do oil washes (which I discovered reading this board) with a hot washcloth to steam open my pores (This really works you HAVE to try it). I finish up with lemon juice as a toner. I stings, but for the first time since junior high, I FINALLY have clear skin.
Twice a week I use 1/2 teaspoon table sugar and make a paste with 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil and use this as a scrub.
I was so stunned but pleased that this worked.

Definately let us know what the results are Allandra. I have seen you in several of the online clubs and you have always talked about your oily skin problem. When I initially posted about the oil washes...I must admit...I was hope that YOU would give it a try. It is so inexpensive. And I figured if works well for you...then others would be convinced. http://64.62.140.213/~longhair/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
ONE LAST BIT OF INFO---If you have dry skin, use jojoba oil because it is super moisturizing. However if you have oily skin, olive oil is the way to go. It seems to inhibit the production of that extra oil.
I don't know why this oil works...but I really don't care to know why. I am just thrilled that it works!!!! http://64.62.140.213/~longhair/forums/images/graemlins/drunk.gif http://64.62.140.213/~longhair/forums/images/graemlins/drunk.gif http://64.62.140.213/~longhair/forums/images/graemlins/drunk.gif http://64.62.140.213/~longhair/forums/images/graemlins/drunk.gif

My skin care regimen has to vary by the season because I am
a) getting older (this is my last year as a 30-something)
b) have combination skin
c) tend to have a pimple somewhere on my face at any given time
d) have a slight dermatitis on my scalp that seems to now be affecting my face
Right now, I am using a mild aloe vera apricot wash for exfoliating and gentle cleansing. I combine that with a Basic Purpose no-soap gel to get the makeup off at night.
I use an MSM cream on my dermatitis area. (tiny) Then I use Karin Herzog (Switzerland/Australia) Vita-A-Kombi 1 skin cream (I love that stuff. Here is the link: http://www.herzog.com.au/products/facecreams.html), which helps the acne to clear up without leaving any scars or over-drying my face. I also use J/A/S/O/N C-Light serum to help balance out my skin tone and help resolve the acne scars of yesteryear.

I have normal skin everywhere except my forehead (since I've been oiling my scalp, that part of my head is oily). I use Noxema and then rinse it off by splashing cool (almost cold) water on my face 30x, no that's not a typo, literally 30 times. It makes my skin so clear and clean. And at night, I do the same thing but the only differnce is I leave the noxema on my face for about 30 minutes (it's dried and almost evaporated by then). I've been doing this ever since I was 13.

I'm loving this thread ladies. I have combination skin (oily in the summer) and am sometimes prone to having blackheads and breakouts during that time of the month. While, I don't have a particular cleansing routine, I do steaming treatments once per week, sometimes twice when skin is acting up. This does a combination of things: It unclogs my pores and heals my skin quicker (blackheads, pimples, blemish, uneven skin tone) and then I apply a peeling mask which both removes blackheads and tighten pores. Acne medications are also much more effective when u do steaming treatments. For me it works twice as fast.
I used to use Biore/Ponds strips to unclog my pores, but they are expensive, and I found they weren't as effective as the steaming treatments and the peeling masks. I have been getting lots of compliments on my skin and people have been asking me what have I been doing. I also do a face scrub once a week with baking soda & water or as needed.
I want to comment that the olive oil routine sounds very interesting though. I like that dual benefits of cleansing and moisturizing without the dyes or perfumes. I'm going to give it a try and see what it does for me.

Compassion, I really can't explain how the olive oil cleans, but I will try to take a stab at an explanation. Perhaps it helps to clean by breaking down the dirt on the skin. You know how some cleansers have oil in them to break down dirt and make-up. When I apply the olive oil, I really massage it into my skin just like I would if I were using soap. Then I take the warm towel and remove the oil. I usually follow that up with lemon juice on a cotton ball or a combination of lemon juice and witch hazel. There is no dirt left and my skin is not overly dry. If it is a bit dry I just take a couple of drops of the olive oil and use that for moisture. I know the explanation is not exactly scientifically based....but it's just my theory. http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/look.gif
On your question of whether I use soap on my skin--I only use Origins Never a Dull Moment cleanser once a month. Sometimes I just feel like washing my face with a conventional cleanser. http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I believe in the benefits of Olive oil too. Everyone who I shared this with is reaping amazing benefits from it. My co-workers are ALWAYS coming to me telling me how glad they are to have been told about this way of washing their face. They love the results.

Thanks Candycane. Your explanation helps. http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I've been reading about castile soaps. Those soaps have always been popular. And do you know what their number one ingredient is?? Most of them claim to contain 100% Olive Oil, along with some lye maybe and other oils like coconut or lavender. I used to use Dr. Bronner's version. Well, I think you have another recruit. Again, I appreciate your explanation. I just pray that the oil will not cause more blemishes, and maybe help me to remove the two I have.

I have combination skin and the only time I may breakout is during my period.
I drink lots of water
I wash with clinique anti-blemish solutions foam wash 2x
throughout the day I wash my face with glycerin soap
I may tone 1x a day with clinique clarifying lotion 2. I'm an office manager at an auto machine shop so I wash or just tone beacuse of all of the oil and grease that floats around in there.
I exfoliate 2x a month with Body scrub by Neutrogena
3 nights a week I use Black Opal Retexturizing cream and Eye gel
To be honest I have not been exfoliating like I should.
The only problem I have is my back which tends to breakout alot. I'm undergoing treatment for it now.

My skin is oily and dry in some places as well, i also have a problem with blackheads around the nose area, i have been tryin to find a solution for blackheads for YEARS lol, everyting from squeezing them out, to applying pure rubbing alcohol on them, my aunt bless her heart, told me the alcohol would dry them up and they would fade over time, unfortunately it didnt work, the only thing it did was make my skin itch. so i decided to come up with my own regimen.
Daily i wash with Queen Helene oatmeal 'n honey facial scrub , rinse with HOT water. Then apply Queen Helene coca butter cream, and thats it, no soaps!, I've stop eating chocolates ( expecialy Reeses, lord i HAD to have those every time i saw a snack machine) and drinking sodas like they were going out of style, with my greedy *** lol, I now drink only juices and almost a gallon of water a day and low and behold , my face as cleared dramiticly!.
I have oily skin that is very sensitive.
Here is my regimen:
Cleanse with Jojoba oil followed by an olive oil/shea butter soap. I use a rosewater toner. I do this 2x a day.
At night, I apply a 5% glycolic acid cream made by Reviva labs. This has helped me fade dark spots from past breakouts, smooth the texture and even my complexion.
Once a week, I use the "light skin peel" by reviva labs. The combination of this and the glycolic acid cream has taken care of blackheads and whiteheads. It also made my pores less visible.
Along with the glycolic cream I use a moisturizer at night. During the fall and winter, I like the night time moisturizer by Kiss My Face. It contains avocado oil and a lot of other antioxidants. In the warmer weather, I like to use jojoba oil.
Everyday (rain, snow, sleet, hail, clouds, no clouds, whatever) I use a moisturizer with sunscreen. Right now I am using Coppertone for Faces Oil-Free SPF 30. Before that I was using Loreal Plentitude Futur E. There was nothing wrong with the Loreal, but I wanted one with a higher SPF. Neither one leaves that ashy film on my skin and they soak in really well without leaving me shiny.
I also use a humidifier during the winter.

I have combo skin with oiliness in the T-zone (forehead, nose), and unfortunately I have continued to have occasional breakouts even though I'm 25 now.
My regimen for the 8 months or so:
1. Wash with Proactiv renewing cleanser twice a day (usually morning and night or after a workout)
2. Follow wash with Proactiv revitalizing toner
3. In morning -- follow toner with facial moisturizer (Equate Oil of Beauty with SPF 15)
At night -- follow toner with Proactiv repairing lotion
Proactiv's recommended regimen includes using the repairing lotion in each wash cycle, but I found that it was drying my skin out that way, so I decreased to once a day.
My skin has really improved with less oiliness and fewer breakouts since starting to use the Proactiv.

I have combination skin. My T-Zone is my main focus (oiliness) I experience dryness at times too!
I use the Proactiv Skin Care Line, which works well, but causes dryness. Since dryness is not wanted, I've modified my Proactiv regimen.
MORNINIG REGIMEN:
Wash with Cetaphil Daily facial Cleanser (Normal-Oily Skin)
Tone with Clean & Clear Sensitive Skin Astringent
Moisturize with Oil of Olay Moisturizer w/SPF
Ponds Revitalizing Eye Gel w/Vitamin E
EVENING REGIMEN:
Wash with ProActiv Renewing Cleanser

I have dry/combo skin. The only few blemishes I have are usually due to ingrown hair bumps or the occasional period pimple. I can use almost any soap-free cleanser with no problem. I loved the Phisoderm for Sensitive skin liquid cleanser. Right now Im using Clinique's cleansing bar in mild. I discovered DHC's Cleansing Oil (there's that oil again!) and let me tell you that this product is the bomb!!! Thats why Im sure that the olive oil washes can work. Anywhoo...in the winter, after cleansing in the am, i use Kiehl's Imperiale Repairateur. Its pricey for an itty bitty bottle. Its a moisturixing mask that looks like green clay but it turns transparent on the face. I rinse it after about 15 to 30 minutes with very cold water. You may not need moisturizer afterwards...and Im a reptile in the wintertime. In warmer weather, I cleanse w/ whatever and use witch hazel to tone. I used Clinique's Dramatically Different moisturizer for about 12 years...I only stopped to try new products but its perfect for my skin. Right now Im using Avon's Retroactive moisturizer. I find that their creams cause noticable improvement initially, then kinda slack off. Ive also used Biore's Beyond Smooth moisturizer on my upper lip to slow up hair growth. The active ingredient is the same as Vaniqua. Oh...and I use a Buff Puff with any cleanser that I use...
Whew!!

Right now, my regimen is quite simple.
Cleanse morning and night with Arbonne International Bio-Matte cleanser. Follow with Bio-Matte toner and Moisture for Day(with sunscreen) or Night. During the day I apply their skinpersonalizer powder to my oily spots to get rid of shine.
Once a week I do a plain honey mask to lift any little impurities that Bio-Matt missed.

I use minimum soap/face wash now and just rinse with water after getting a tip about this- unless I wear makeup.
Every other day I use the Obagi Nuderm line minus the face wash.
Every other day, I have begun applying EPO directly to my skin (I have seen wonderful results from this). Whenever I get a chance, I exfoliate with a (frozen)lemon and put honey on my skin.
I will try the Olive Oil treatment sounds wonderful.

I have oily skin, It is not as oily as it was two years ago.
I wash twice daily.
In the morning I wash with Purpose cleansing bar and at night I scrub with St Ives Medicated Apricot Scrub.
I apply Differin gel at night and Benzaclin during the day. I moisturize with cetaphil. I use Clean and Clear Sensitive Skin Astringent when needed.
Thanks to the acne medication I have not had any major breakout for at least 6 or 7 months. In case any of you all do not know Differin gel works wonders. It got rid of acne and faded some old scars that I had.
Right now I am in the process of lighting the skin on my neck using Ambi. It does not match my face yet but it is almost there.

My skin, first and foremost, is sensitive, and therefore is unable to tolerate too many products.
Furthermore, it tends to be combination, and more oily during the summer, and drier during the winter.
Last, my skin reacts angrily to drastic changes in weather, as well as stress and fatigue.
I have been using Proactive Solution since August 2001, and have had very good results. I have used Phisoderm, Neutrogena, Lancome, Clarins and Mary Kay, in that order, from my teens to my early thirties, and of all of these, Proactive Solution has cleansed my skin the best.
I use the cleanser, followed by the toner, and then the lotion, which contains 2% benzol peroxide. I follow this regimen morning and night.
One to two times weekly, I use the clay mask.
During the hot, humid summer months, I use the Oil Control Lotion. During the colder months, I use the Moisturizing Lotion.
That's it.
A word about facials: When I was in my twenties, I went to a dermatologist for a persistent acne condition - a cluster of tiny pimples on my cheek. I was prescribed Retin A, which was great, and cleared up the problem readily. At that time, I was heavily into spa facials. My dermatologist, however, informed me that, other than its psychological benefits, a facial has no cleaning effects.
Go figure!

This is a great posting!
I have dry/combination skin and am prone to an occasional pimple here and there. (I have been lucky...knock on wood). Anyhow, here's my regimen:
Mornings:
Wash with Dry formula Oil of Olay towelettes
Apply Neutrogena Daily Defense Moisturizer with spf 30
Apply Neutrogena Healthy Skin Eye Cream (just added this to regimen since I wear contacts and that involves constant eye area stretching)
Nights:
I ALWAYS wash my face before bed no matter how tired I am.
Wash using Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Cream Cleanser
5 out of 7 nights, I just apply Clean and Clear Oil Free Dual-Action Moisturizer
The other nights or if I feel like I'm getting a pimple or getting blotchy skin, I'll use Neutrogena Clear Pore Treatment.
And if I have a pimple, I'll use Neutrogena On-the-Spot.
I've been pretty much using this same regimen for 5 years. The neutrogena products really work for me. I have been lucky to not have serious issues with my skin but I have dealt with eczema and chicken pox as an adult...talk about devastating!

I wash and moisturize twice a day with Timewise Skin care, by Marykay Cosmetics. Then at night I follow-up with a special moisturizer for my eyes, to prevent "character lines" and I also use at anti-aging serum with alpha hydroxy to exfoliate and bring out the new younger looking skin! I love to pamper myself..If we don't do it for ourselves, who will???

I have ultra hyper sensitive skin, so my skin care regimen is pretty sketchy and practically nonexistant. I really don't wear makeup except rarely. My skin is mostly clear (I attribute that to vitamins and diet) butevery now and then I have a few bumps on my forehead (I think from hair oils) and because I'm inconsistent when it comes to my skin. I have combination skin.
I wash with either cetaphil or clearasil sensitive skin cleaner. To be honest, sometimes I don't do either, and just use a damp clean cloth. Sometimes I use Eucerin skin moisturizers, I find these very good for sensitive skin. I use vitamin e oil (jason naturals) or neosporin for dry spots. My dry spots sometimes break out and in that case I use neosporin on them. When I have an skin allergic reaction to something (which is fairly often) I take a benadryl or claritin, and I take about 1000mg of pantothenic acid/B-5. I also crush pantothenic acid tablets into a powder and mix them with ice cold water and apply a thin layer to the area with the hive/irritation. Believe it or not, this treatment works almost instantaneous for me, and I have been doing it my whole life. When I have scalp irritations or inflamed bumps I also apply a dab of tea tree oil.
From outside appearances I have very clear, healthy skin, but thats a careful balance of avoiding things I'm allergic too and keeping things off of my skin that will irritate it, and eating healthy, taking vitamins.
That's about it!

I used to have very oily and acned skin but have realized the importance of moisture...so i drink about 2 litres a day and use the above moisturiser

I just started coming to the skin care board, and here is my routine. I have oily combination skin, and I had some bad breakouts. I bought the Acne Cure in mid August and have been using for the past month (switched up):
Morning:
Wash with Phisoderm liquid soap (2% sacylic acid)
Wash with Ponds Wrinkle Reducer (Glycolic Acid)
Wash with Oxy face wash (10% BP, I know I don't need to use as much, but it doesn't bother me)
Smooth on Fade Cream (forgot the name brand)
Smooth of Coppertone SPF50 sunblock
After work:
Same as above except
Instead of second step I substitute hydrox creme (8% glycolic acid)
I don't use the BP
Bed time:
KT Chemical Peel (everyday for the first seven days) then I will use a peel once a week.

*hanging my head in shame!*
I have dry, sensitive skin and in the morning I wash with Ivory soap, at night I wash with Ivory soap if I'm not feeling too lazy to go to the bathroom.
This routine works better than most stuff I've tried at keeping my skin clear, but I would like to find something that works really well, especially since this routine leaves my face so dry I scratch on it. I think I'll try Aubrey.

I like to keep all my regimens simple and cheap http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. So with that said, my current skincare lineup is:
- Facial Moisturizer: Pure Vitamin E oil (a drop is enough for my whole face)
-Toner: homemade Tea Tree Oil toner for any possible pimples and to get rid of oil in T-zone.
-St. Ives Apricot Scrub, for exfoliation whenever necessary
- Baby-scented Vaseline as a body 'moisturizer', used sparingly. In the Fall & Winter this is the most effective product in sealing in moisture. I have excessively dry skin everywhere but my face.
In the past few [warm] months I used pure Glycerin as a body moisturizer, which worked well. So I think next spring & summer I'll restart up with Glycerin and possibly add a few drops of vanilla fragrance oil to spruce it up http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

I have a yellow complexion so when a big one erupts--my skin turns bright red! I cannot hide it with any amount of makeup. maybe this will help u.
I have oily skin that is prone to breakouts, and Ive also realized that my skin is also sensitive.
Ive always used cleansers that contain salycilic acid or benzol peroxode because its supposed to "treat" breakouts. now that I think about it, it only made my skin worse and irritated. And I would always use mud masks and/or scrubs thinking it would prevent more breakouts.
Now I realize that I just need to cleanse and moisturize, no scrubs and no masks. And no salyclic aid and benzol peroxide.
Recently Ive been using Johnson&Johnson Purpose gentle cleansing wash, which is oil-free, soap-free, and hypoallergenic. And it does not contain salycilic acid or benzol peroxide.
It does not leave my face tight and dry after intial use, instead my skin feels so calm and smooth. And I use their oil-free moisturizer. This combo is doing great for me.
You can but it at Target, CVS,Wal-mart, etc. It's cheaper at Target, like under $.5.00 for the cleanser. And the moisturizer is like $9.00.

occasionally tone with witch hazel tea tree blend or clean and clear astringent
moisturize with vitamin e oil or eucerin q10 cream
no real night routine, sometimes toner and vit. e or pure aloe

I have combination skin, but I can have a breakout here and there due to stress or hormones at that time of the month.
Daily care- I use philosophy products. The purity wash works well and I also use hope in a jar moisturizer. This doesn't contain a sunscreen so I add that to the mixture. I also use their eye and lip cream. To exfoliate I use the one minute facial from their line. They also have a peel that works very well.
Recently I discovered a line serum from Bath and Body works that I apply before my moisturizer.
I've also started with the olive oil wash. This has been FANTASTIC for my face!
I think that my vitamin regime has helped as well. Recently, I've added amino acids to the mix and I have noticed a difference with clarity and tone.
Other than that, water is on my list. I am signed up for 132 ounces/daily with the Hydrochallenge and I try to keep my humidifier going in the winter.
Take care,

I have oily, acne-prone, and I think sensitve skin. So far this regimen has been working for me to keep my skin stable:
Morning:
Wash with Clinique Antibacterial Soap
Clinique #4 Astringent
Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera Gel as facial lotion
Night:
Wash with Clinique Antibacterial Soap
Clinique #4 Astringent
Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera Gel as facial lotion
**Every other night, I use the Clinique exfoliating scrub
So far, people have commented on my skin improving so I guess it works, and I drink a lot of water. http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Black Soap (http://www.christinescreations.org/BlackSoap.html)
this is what Black soap really looks like..Ive never ordered from this site so I dont know how secure it is..but I pay 4.00 for a clump..and I broke off maybe half of a soap bar and Ive been using it for 2 weeks now... Since I have sensitive skin and in the winter my face is quick to flake up (Ughhh) I see a difference since Ive been using this..as well as the soap thats black... I was never prone to too many breakouts but I say try it since its natural..

I am in the process of nailing down a skin regimine but what I have been trying seems to work so far.
My skin gets really oily during the summertime and is more manageable now that it is winter.
Before putting on the MAC Studio Fix (in the morning)
Olive oil to cleanse - wipe off with hot towel
Use Proactiv Cleanser
Aloe Vera Gel - let dry - this seems to make the skin glow after the use of the proactive cleanser
Delcor toning lotion - to "wipe off" the aloe vera gel
Twice per week (in the evening):
Oil of Olay Cleansing sheets to take off makeup
Olive oil to cleanse
Use scrub machine with baking soda and Cetaphyl (sp?) combination - this works really well http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/up.gif just as good as the Microdermabraision kit I bought.
Aloe Vera Gel - let dry - sponge off with the hot towel
Aveda Moisturizing mask - let dry - sponge off
For regular evenings, same thing as above except no scrub (use Proactive cleanser instead) or Aveda Moisturizing Mask
For any pimples:
Oil of Olay cleansing sheets (to take off makeup)
Use Olive Oil to cleanse - wipe off with hot towel (to get off any trace makeup left)
Use the Proactive all the way - cleanser, toner, lotion and then the mask on the pimples. This is done at night.
When putting on make-up in the morning,
Will do Proactive cleanser only.
Then use the Oil Refiner as a toner. Finally, use the MAC concealer to cover it up - it seems to work pretty well. In about a week or so, the blemishes are gone.
What is missing:
A good toner to replace the Delcor product - something a bit better
A good clay mask
I still want to get a pore cleaner http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/ohwell.gif
Products that I *really* like:
Olive Oil
Baking soda and Cetaphyl (sp?) with the rotating scrub brush
Aloe Vera - in the Aloe Vera Gel and in the Aveeda Moisturizing Mask
Oil of Olay cleansing sheets (I don't know exactly what they are called - you put water on them and use them to clean your skin)

I have combination skin:
Daily Routine:
Morning:
*Wash - Aveeno Oat Meal soap
*Toner - Aveda Skin Toner/Firmer
*Moisturizer - Aveda Hydrating Lotion
Night time:
*Estee Lauder Make-up remover or Queen Helena Whipped facial Cleanser
*Wash - Clinique Mild facial Soap
*Estee Lauder Facial Serum
*Moisturizer - either Aveda Hydrating Lotion or Aveeno moisturizer for facial hair.

I think my skin type is pretty normal, not oil or dry
My regimen is very simple. Once a week I use St. Ives Apricot Scrub and the Hydroxy Masque.
Everyday I use Noxema when I wake up and before I go to sleep. I use any lotion I have to moisturize.

I apply Breyer's strawberry yogurt on my face and quickly wash it off with warm water. For moisturizing, I apply a small amount of olive oil afterwards.

I have normal to dry skin. My skin tend to develop keloid scars ( I have little one on my belly). Thank God, no acnes.I used to have white spots on my face (latin: tinea versicolor) so I take good care of the moisture + PH balance.
I use a lot of brands
Cleansing: Clarins
Lotion: Clarins, also Sisley (rosewater)
Eye cream: As I am 39 years old, I use the best there is. Period. Kanebo eye cream.
Cream: A lot of brands. Sisley Creme reparatrice is perfect for me but expensive, Body Shop, Hydrazen (Lancome, love the smell), sometimes a bit of avocado oil, sometimes Kanebo cream.
I tend to be lazy at night so I focus the cleansing and moisterizing in the morning.

This is what I'm using in the morning:
· Lancôme Gel Contrôle (Purifying Gel Cleanser)
· Lancôme Tonique Contrôle (Purifying Toner With Matifying Powders)
· Lancôme Sensation Totale (Continuous-C)
· Lancôme Hydra Contrôle Mat Moisturizer
· Fruit of the Earth Vitamin E Gel – Eye Area
· Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sun Block SPF 45 (as needed)
This line is really working well for my oily skin (which surprised me). I just knew I would be taking it back. Not!

Hey Allandra,
Glad that Lancome is working for you--it better for that kind of $$$. I tried a sample of their Gel Clarte & I liked it pretty well.

My skin type is normal to oily (I think it's the hair produts that find their way down to my face).
These are the products I use:
Neutorgena cream cleanser
Avalon mint thyme soap
Avalon lavendar soap
Avon Scrub (forgot the name, it's a blue cream w. small particles in it)
Once in awhile I pamper myself to a cucumber mask or mud
Swiss apricot scrub
When I get lazy I clean my face with Clean & Clear facial pads by johnson and johnson

I don't mind spending a lot of money on me. http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Had it not worked, I could have returned the products. I'm so glad I decided to give this line a try. http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I've never looked into their hair products. I'll have to check them out on their web site.

The Intense Nutrition Line is cheaper than Kerastase and they are both owned by L'Oreal.

Sorry just read practically all of Paula Begoun's reviews and you've got to be kidding me! Apparently no products cheap or expensive match up to her high standards. Only she is committed to good skincare, because of course they are all out to sell us vaseline in a tub. Yeah some companies take the piss, but really a lot of these companies also have integrity. ( No I dont work in skincare, but have used a lot of these lines, as I am a professed skin care junky). It all came into hard focus when I realised she also has her own line... right... No on a more serious note I just expected to see some good revies, even the ones she rated with her highest mark she'd say- "its as good as any..." well if any were good enough she better quit her day job and quit reviewing. p.s. why the rave reviews on her???

My skin is normal to dry, with sensitive cheeks. I use only Aveda products. I buy the travel sizes for half the price and they last a long time and don't take up a lot of space.
Green Bottle
Aveda Botannical Cleanser
Aveda Botannical Toning Spray
Aveda Botannical Exfoliator
Aveda Botannical Face Lotion
I mix 1 drop of Aveda sensitive skin treatment with my moisturizer daily. I only get facials at Aveda Spas

ITA!! I haven't read her book, but she turned me off a few years ago when she was on Oprah promotiong her book about hair care (I forgot the exact title). She basically said that hair products (especially conditioners) don't do anything for the hair and that the hair's texture and stuff can't be changed. I remember that segment because a black lady argued with her because she used Mane and Tail and she was saying how it changed her hair's condition and its texture. Paula told the lady that was impossible http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I know myself that Mizani has performed miracles on my hair http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif So, I'd only take what she has to say with a grain of salt http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
