You really have to eliminate sugar and white flour.... and it is in EVERYTHING. Plus, most fatties(I say this in jest) love sugar and it is HARD to cut it out.

Sugar is my downfall, though when I want to eat I want FOOD and that includes high carb sauces and sides.
I tend to not eat out a lot when I diet because I don't trust restaurants to not put milk in their eggs, or sugar in their meat sauces. Even the rotisserie chicken from the grocery store I question... who is to say they don't put sugar in their marinade. Boston Market? Injects their chicken with sugar... I heard this a long time ago.
I just cook at home that way I know what's in my food. I can also control sodium, which is a culprit in strange overnight weight gain. Often I can tell when I've had too much salt in a day.
One thing that helps me with sugar and carb cravings is chromium picolinate. You can get it at the grocery store among the vitamins. There's also something called 5HTP or something like that. Both regulate the blood sugar so that you don't crave carbs and sweets. Drops in blood sugar can be attributed to severe cravings and cravings lead to cheats.
I also avoid trigger foods like high sugar fruits because they just set off cravings.

Does this include the sugar in fruits as well, or just white sugar?

I've heard people say this and I believe it might be true for some people. However, I do know plenty of people who have lost weight without cutting out white flour and sugar completely. They used portion control and exercise. Not saying it's easy, though. In the long run it might be more realistic.

if you say it's hard it's gonna be hard. If you cut it out for about a month, you will lose the taste for it and once you go back to it your body will reject it and make you sick. Not only does sugar make you fat, but it ages you.....no thank you. i get my sugar from fruits non of that white process stuff

2. Salt. Have you tried Celtic Sea Salt? This is full of minerals etc and may helpwith your overnight weight gain...
PM me if you want info on the book(not pricey) or more info!

I do crave it less but the cravings are not gone. :)
I recently got educated on the evils of sugar and don't want to eat it. At ALL!!!!!

Cutting out the white stuff makes a world of difference. A few years ago I had been in the gym working out like a fiend and watching my caloric intake and not seeing minimal changes. My trainer at the time advised that I eat whole grains instead of white flour based products. Within 4 weeks I'd lose 10lbs and went on to lose another 7 over the next month. Making that small change really kicked my weightloss into high gear.

Cheetarah, this is so true!!!! My husband was working out 6 days a week, 2 hours a day. All he had to show was these big arms and big chest but no weight came off. Until I told him to change all white stuff to brown and the weight just fell off !!!! He lost 62 lbs in 4 months!!!! He really had determination to lose the weight and dedication to the gym!!!! Now if only I can follow my advice!!!!

Just a suggestion. Suzanne Somers has two great books that go into detail about white flour and sugar. If you have the time to check them out at the library they are full of information.
1. Get Skinny on Fabulous Food
2. Eat Great, Lose Weight
It also explain how to food combine.

I don't know if I'm pre diabetic or what but I have way to many highs and lows when I eat the white stuff esp sugars. I have cut out eating whites 99% of the time for the last 2-3 monthes and I can't even remember the last migraine I had and no more getting the shakes when I don't eat for X amount of time either.
