Dieters, have you tried Alli?

The first over-the-counter diet drug, pronounced al-EYE and approved by the Food and Drug Administration, has been on sale for less than two weeks. Displays in pharmacies and supermarkets are hard to miss.

The maker of Alli, GlaxoSmithKline, has invested $100 million for the right to sell this lower-powered version of the prescription drug Xenical. The firm's marketing campaign will cost another $150 million.

It's interesting that the campaign pitches Alli as part of an overall lifestyle change which, if you follow it, will allow you to lose weight. That means making a commitment to eating better and exercising more. So in case you were wondering, it's not as simple as swallowing a pill three times a day before meals.

The manufacturer says that Alli users can expect to lose an average of 10 pounds in a year. A box of 90 capsules, a one-month supply, sells for about $60.

I got it last night and want to know whayt you guys think:perplexed

I ordered some and I'm waiting for it to arrive. I said I'll give it a try along with eating sensibly and exercising. It does make me wonder that if I eat sensibly and work out anyway, I probably will lose weight without it. :perplexed
But maybe this will give me the motivation I need.

You don't need to lose weight...you are a great size. Do you?

I've been taking it about 10 days or so. I have not weighted myself yet, but I can feel a difference in my clothes. I have not had many negative side effects because I have been eating pretty healthy.

However, I am visiting my sister and the past two days have not been healthy eating days, lol. Just a warning, stay away from Taco Bell and Popeyes:lachen: !! Nothing was leaking out as the warning label states, but I did have some very oily stools...sorry tmi. Make sure you take a multivitamin as well, and drink plenty of water.

What happens after you stop taking Alli and try to eat normal and your body is not blocking the fat anymore? I guess you will gain the weight back, I mean unless you can eat like that for the rest of your life, But I know somebody might want some Fried chicken every now and then or some Dressing etc. I just wonder about what happens when you stop blocking the Fat? I read that you will have to take the Pill again to lose the weight again. Then it will be like Yo-Yo'ing. I don't know I am just Talking, But I wish you ladies success on it & don't forget to update us!!

I think the idea of Alli is to encourage a low fat diet. However, we still need to consume some fat. I take my good fats at night with my vitamin.

I am the one who ate whatever I wanted the first week Alli was launched, exercised about 15 minutes and lost 4.5 pounds. I am hoping for comparable results this week since my goal was to still eat what I want and exercise a little more and see what happens. So far, I don't think the results are going to be as dramatic as last week. Proving that you have got to eat right and exercise ultimately in order to lose weight.

Losing weight is a lifestyle change that needs to be permanent or else you will be dieting or yo-yo dieting as you say for the rest of your life. If there were a magic pill or potion, Oprah would have already told us.

Since I have so much weight to lose, I am hoping that on days when maybe I decide to "treat" myself or just feel like eating that chicken, that Alli will keep me from gaining weight on that day.

When I finally lose weight, I don't plan on gaining it back. So it's going to take hard work, dedication, consistency, and determination.........:p

I saw that this is on sale at Target this week. I picked up a pamphlet when I was there. I didn't buy the pills, though.

10 lbs a year? You could do that by just cutting out about 100 calories from your diet a day or burning an extra 100 calories a day for a year. With no "oily discharge" :perplexed and you get to keep your $$$.

Why does their commercial feature the heavyset red headed country singer? Why didn't she lose the weight using the pill before filming a commercial?

I took it for about 2 weeks, but I got tired of running to bathrooms. I hate public bathrooms, so that was pure TORTURE!!!!

The fat is truly absorbed though. If you eat a little too much fat you WILL be running, and you'll be cleaning orange grease from the toilet 24/7 !!!!

Alli is the grossest diet ever!!

This happened to me way back in the day with those olean doritos.
That let me know I needed to stop eating those.
Orange oil coming from there is not normal :nono:

It's normal. It's just grease mixed with seasoning and the color of the food.
